With a light brown roof, I would advise you to stay in the lighter tones - the roof should feel tonally darker than the body of the house. The brick is the other element you want to coordinate well with the body color - the warm brick tones suggest to me that you may not find another color you like as well as the yellow. Many earthy warm neutrals that work against the brick will not provide the same crisp contrast with your white trim and garage door. You could test a warm pale greige . . something with an olive green undertone / putty tone like bm clarksville gray, or a lighter shade . . . senora gray / winterwood might suit you and still work with the warmth of the roof and brick. You could go all white with a sunny yellow front door? You have a lovely property - Good Luck testing. Stay away from blues / sages . . .and consider - what color are your immediate neighbors . . veer away so you continue to stand unique.

Did a Houzz photo search on brown roofs. Of course none of these houses are suburban track houses. Please let me know what you all think of some of these?

I really like the yellow on your house. I think you should stay with it. There are not many yellow houses around. But some of your landscaping is hiding the house and now may be the time to edit out some that have outgrown their place. Look to have some professional pruning to get some specimens back to a more natural shape to contrast with your topiary.

Landscaping is definitely a lot. We need to move to a more low water landscape (using excess water in California is a problem) so we have been waiting until we can tackle that project. Some of the shrubs have been removed since the picture.

If I were to stay with yellow, what about the garage and the front door? Stick with white? Struggling with loving change and staying with the yellow, even though I do really like yellow houses.

Joanna, lots of people here have asked about the green in the middle pic. Unfortunately it appears to be a custom mix. We had a similar roof color as yours in a previous house. It can be a challenging color, but the right green can really work nicely. These are some similar options from Ben Moore, but there are many pretty gray/greens to choose from.

Nice...and would def work with your house. Maybe even better as in the middle photo I posted. Just noticing the siding color on my third photo looks a little too bright here on my iPad screen.

I think the white garage is fine with the yellow. There is a lot of wide white trim, so it makes sense to me.

Here are some greens I found that are close to the green in that house. (But I still like your yellow better!)

A green garage and front door would look great with yellow siding. Just not a fan of stark white garage doors. The greens shown above are very pretty and would complement your roof nicely!

I have to say, I like the yellow as well....but if you are going to paint I would go a softer yellow and creamy white for the trim and garage door. I would try and do the front door to reflect the color palate you have going on inside your home...if that works with the yellow?

Okay, paint is next week. What SW yellow should I get samples of? I think I will get a sample of banana cream but what other colors should I check. Leaning toward a dark blue or blue-green front door. Paint the garage yellow or leave white?

Paint the garage the same color as the siding to help pull focus away from it. On my screen Banana Cream looks like it leans orange-ish, if that's what you want...?

Hmm. The banana cream on my paint chip actually might look a little two green. Not sure. Any favorite yellows to try. Matching up the paint chip to the house the current color is very close to SW captivating cream (6659).

Joanna, you can sometimes tell by lthe most saturated color on the paint strip. You can order 12" peel and stick samples from https://samplize.com/ to help you decide. I just received some samples from them. They say the samples are the real paint vs just a color chip.

Here's a pic of the paint strip. The most saturated color looks orange-y to me but you just have to test it out. You likely already know colors can look lighter on the exterior.

Mushroom cap is a good choice. Yellows are the most difficult to select. I recommend using Google images to search for yellow houses when you have a few you narrow to. Use the name of the color in your image search. Houzz first google next. Historic Ben Moore colors in yellow are highly recommended. Outdoor light fades the impression of the color 1 level.

House is painted. Ended up with Jersey cream siding, pure white trim and a cerise door. Thanks for all of the help everyone.
