If you want to "hang" the mirror by the frame, then a weak frame could be a liability. I've built many custom mirrors over the years, probably 3 or 4 for each house I've built. You can have them built from scratch for a few hundred dollars. You can sometimes take a store-bought frame that might be a little flimsy and back it with a piece of 1/4" luan and staple the luan to the frame. That'll stiffen the frame and joints. This does depend on the width of the frame though, it might not work with narrow frames. You can paint the edges of the luan black to minimize them showing from the side. The easiest is what has been mentioned, hang the mirror glass on the wall, then build the frame over and around it. The frame holds no weight an the mirror will never tilt. When hanging heavy or large custom mirrors that I've built, I usually hang them with a french cleat. Should the need arise, the french cleat makes it easy to remove the mirror from the wall. And when on the wall they'll always be secure and level. Mongo

At least a dozen years ago, I got a beauty, very similar to yours at Kirkland's. They switch their merchandise around so much that I have never seen one since and the irony of it is, that my housekeeper broke it before we ever got it hung. She was a great human being and I could not fault her. I had it in a bad place and she backed the vacuum cleaner into it pretty hard. Yikes! What a noise. I intended (immediately) go run out and buy another, but I just put it off too long and when I went, they no longer had them. I saw one similar in Penney's ads under mirrors long after I had decided on something else for that area. Try Lighting on the Net, Bellacor, Lamps Plus, the Mirror Lady, Kaboodle and E-Bay although I can tell you, sometimes looking locally at your glass places and furniture shops is more beneficial than searching the Web. A furniture shop in our town has some beautiful mirrors. I have known the owner for many years and she told me once if I ever get ready to replace that venetian mirror that she could get me one cheaper than I could get it on E-Bay, so look around town.

I would look for art that is large and squarish for just over the tub portion. Then i would find a shelf or two of some kind to go over the toilet. not an ugly cabinet, but something that will fill the space but not compete with the art. Hello everyone I am so sorry for the late response. My little one got sick .. Thanks for all of your suggestions and comments! I truly appreciate them! I understand that what I would like to have is not going to fit in the current vanity layout we have right now. There is no time for us to change the layout now. They have started installing granite and we want them to meet the deadline to finish the house or we will be left without a place to stay! So we have decided to go with the single mirror for now. There is no point now in worrying over not having extra storage that we may or may not need in the vanity in the future. If after living in the house for couple of months we feel like we need extra vanity storage, I will add extra storage under the makeup area or in the master closet. But I will for sure replace this vanity sometime in the future with a more useful one :) Sophie Wheeler we live in Northern Louisiana. I looked up the guidelines you are talking about. I wish we knew about these before. But are they firm rules or just guidelines? The builder already sold a house with a similar layout last year so I am assuming he had the same vanity there and it passed inspection. I do not know for sure but why would anyone build something knowing it will fail inspection? :/
