Lighting Design Dilemma Kitchens

Pendant lighting over island?

Hi, I have a 6 ft x 2 ft peninsula and wanted the lights pictured below. I wanted to get 2 13 inch ones. which would look better, 2 or 3? Our rendering showed 3.. should we also do lighting above windows and/or shelving. Any suggestions on what type of lighting or how many etc. I don’t want to overdo it.. how should pendants be placed? How far apart fm each other and distance fm floor or wall? Help! Thanks in advance

As a general rule, odd number multiples work best. But that all depends on the size of the island and the size of the fixtures. If you want those fixtures pictured above, get two. If you want (3) fixtures, go smaller, i.e. no larger than 8" in diameter.

I'd go for a drum shade pendant. It doesn't have to match, just a similar design.

You didn’t Indicate the height of your ceiling. With an 8ft ceiling it is a challenge because if you will be restricted to a smaller diameter. I only installed two over my 99” island. I wanted them larger in diameter, but the next size would not accommodate my 8ft ceiling. I did not want to use three, I knew that from the beginning. I wanted the lighting to be uncluttered and open. This is what I did.

If you are staying with that same fixture I would add a third pendent because that island is so big compared to the two pendent light fixtures. If you went with two different larger pendent fixtures it would look balanced.
