Center pendant lights over island?

I am going to install new pendant lights over my island & sink. The lights over the island were never centered (or so I thought), until I took this picture and it appears when they were originally installed, they were centered with the light over the sink.

My question is would it look fine if I actually center them correctly over the island, or should I add a third pendant over the island?

If you are staying with that same fixture I would add a third pendent because that island is so big compared to the two pendent light fixtures. If you went with two different larger pendent fixtures it would look balanced.

Yes, two or three depending on size, but center with the island, for good coverage of the surface if nothing else.

At 18" apart, your lights are approximately at quarter points, so personally I think that is ideal (from a visual perspective). A friend of mine has a similar size island to yours and has her lights at quarter points. She has 12" pendants and they offer plenty of light for the entire surface. I think the size will depend on the style you select. In my previous kitchen, I had a 60" island with only one pendant centred over the sink. It was perfect for us, as we also had potlights and plenty of sunlight (3 full height windows, w/ patio door).

You're welcome. :) A few people asked about the ones in this pic but no one answered. I don't know, but I did a google of glass ball pendants, and came up with this. Here's just one place I found some. But clearly there are many. Take your time to find the best one and price!

Many fixtures will have a chain adapter kit. I think it might look weird to have super long rods, especially if one may be longer than the other. I would talk to your electrician and see what he recommends.

Hanging pendant lights from pitched ceiling over off center island

I have a 10 ft island that is placed off center and perpendicular to the pitch ceiling of my kitchen. There is a beam running the length of the ceiling at the apex. To hang 3 pendants centered over the island, one of the pendants has to be hung from the other side of the beam. Is this ok? I haven't been able to find any pictures online to help. Thanks!

The existing island ones, do not appear to me, to have been centered over the sink fixture. The one on the right is much closer to the sink light, than the one on the left. I would be using 3 fixtures.
