I didn't even bother to work out in the garden today it is so chilly. Had to put on the thick winter coat to even do my garden walkabout around noon time. Then there is a chilly wind blowing also so I just gave up any idea of gardening today. Gonna be cold like this the next two days and then it should warm up some. It wasn't none to warm and cozy out yesterday either but much better than today. I was out yesterday working on the second row of daylilies. This is a row of late and extra lates that I moved over from another part of the yard. I was pleased at the results when I was done. Haveing those two rows of daylilies planted there already makes it look like a real garden and I can see what I want to put around the daylilies even better now that they are actually there already. The extra early ones in the first row haven't even been there a week yet but they have really started growing well in the new spot. They are going to loke the sun there and the nice rich soil.

We are planning for a new front yard walkway. I'm deciding between pavers and concrete, but leaning more towards pavers. I'm unsure of what design to go with. My choice of color will be slate with charcoal as the borders. I'd like to see what others have decided on. Thanks!

Thank you! Well, the first photos are from when I planted everything. The last one is how it is after some months went by. Right now, only Mexican petunias survive, peace lilys grew but the leaves are burnt by the sun and heliconias and some variegated liriope are trying to survive. The rest just died. I did plant a lot of Mexican petunias but I wish to mix with something else to give it some interest and also because I want to do a modern design.

I"m going to disagree with many here. I will vote for a sidewalk connection every time. Why emphasize space designed for vehicles instead of humans? Why not encourage pedestrians over cars? Driveways are often littered with cars, basketball hoops, toys, construction vehicles and garbage cans, which visitors must navigate around. Pathways say "welcome to my home, please come in". Driveways are utilitarian. Pathways are neighborly. Breaking up the front yard with a pathway could be a good thing, not a problem. You can use a pathway (or two or three) to create planting and/or sitting areas. It will add much more interest to your home than a large expanse of lawn. Please think about it -- this is a good opportunity to take your beautiful new home to another level. The suggestion to hire a designer ASAP is a good one. P.S.
