Decorating ideas above TV?

I’m struggling with the wall space above the TV in our den. The focal point of this room is a fireplace with a long mantle. There is a big window to the left of the clock. Any ideas?

WE need to see the entire room. Please post more pictures. You need a higher and wider TV console. And nothing above the TV. Move the clock to another space. Every space does not need to be filled

I wouldn’t put anything above it. Agree that a taller narrower console would work better if that’s possible.

Leave the TV by itself....doesn't need decorating but could you have glass doors put on the left side of the fireplace where your components are? If not that....take measurements and go to a store that sells baskets and find a basket that fits each shelf and put your components and discs and other miscellanious things in the baskets.

As far as I can see, there is nothing wrong w/ existing fireplace. If you are going to put tv over fireplace, I recommend this mount. There is a motorized version, also. https://www.dynamicmounting.com/product/down-and-out-manual-mount/

Going to mount the tv slightly above the console. How do you decorate?

the charts for distance are to maximize the clarity. if you sit too far back, you're paying for something you're not using (you buy a 20" 4k tv and you have to sit 3 feet away from it to actually see the difference between that and 1080p). you can sit farther away but there's no need to... and at some point it doesn't work proportionally in the room. a tiny TV in a huge room looks off. regarding height, sure, you can mount it higher. no one will end up in the hospital. probably. but it's not ergonomically correct. you have the ability to do it right, so do it.

First choice would be adding an overmantle piece to the fireplace so the tv doesn’t look like it was an after thought. Second choice would be a larger tv to help fill up the space and get one that displays artwork in sleep mode. As far as toy storage, you may be able to have two square storage ottomans for toy storage.

No decorating there. It would be helpful to see the rest of the room, rather than just that one corner. So, just from that one photo you posted, I would hang the TV on that wall. Perhaps get a TV that is a bit larger (they have become very affordable in the larger sizes), and hang it on the wall. You can first put blue painters tape on that wall to see what size looks good. I recommend a wall mount bracket by Peerless. Peerless makes good ones, and even articulating ones if you need that.

If that's going to be your tv wall, the tv needs to be centered on it and the clock needs to move.
