Quick poll... Where would you put backsplash over this vanity?
Comments (13)Hmmmm, interesting points and suggestions... thank you! And thanks, Loranium, for the picture and suggestion. I do like that look! So far, it looks like it's 4-3 in favor of going all the way around, although possibly not with granite. Here's is a little more info which may make a difference, or maybe not... This is a 37" wide vanity in an L-shaped water closet that we built during our masterbath remodel. The vanity in this picture will only be used for washing our hands after using the toilet. I'm not too concerned about it feeling too closed in/small because of the nature of the room. There is no natural light but we did put in a 10" Solatube in the ceiling. We're keeping the lighting simple with a two light fixture centered above the mirror. In the main bathroom, we have two separate and larger vanities with sconces. Each of these have upper cabinets with a valance and we're planning a 4" granite backsplash that will go between the upper cabinets only. I know that our granite is very busy but, given our limited use of backsplash, we decided to go with granite instead of introducing another type of tile in the room. (Our shower has travertine deco accents which wouldn't be practical or affordable to use as backsplash.) Any further thoughts? Thanks so much!...See MorePoll:If cost wasn't an issue which cabinet paint would you choose
Comments (13)FPE. Well...you DID ask for the best...;-)! "Be careful what you wish for..." Yes, it's pricey. I've had my hands in it, sampled it, and therefore used it @ home. It IS NOT normal paint. * We're talkin' "Four Seasons Maui" vs. the Holiday-Inn kinda difference...except FPE is a little cheaper...;-) (We were lucky enough to stay @ the Four Seasons last June) * Your paint cost will increase SOME. So what? The added value, durability, & appearance will outweigh a few $$'s. * Just as proof...my setup for my downstairs bath...my fave C2-One primer, and the Euroqt. of FPE Matte, which cost $45 delivered. Walls were washed with powdered Dirtex. Faron...See MorePoll - Which property would you buy?
Comments (26)Keep looking, the way you describe the lake house the main thing is that it is on the lake, the curb appeal and lots of other things don't appeal to you. Also, being too close to the lake, what about heavy rains etc, any chance of it encroaching on your home, look at 100 yr flood maps at FEMA.org. Maybe you need a lake house with a bit more property so you have the best of both worlds. I would prefer a lake house set further back than that....See MorePOLL: Would you move from a house you like because you're bored?
Comments (66)OK. I admit it. I am a secret wannabe moveaholic. I am an Air Force brat who moved every two years while growing up and came to love it. I crave change just for the sake of it. New views, fresh perspectives, wide-open opportunities. Alas. I am married to (and in love with) a content-where-he-hangs-his-hat man. So... I paint rooms, make drapes, work on many projects at once, refinish furniture, create oil paintings. But, I do not feel totally satisfied with where we live. I want to move. The house we are living in is 10 feet away from our neighbor's house---we live in a historic district in a small, Southern city. I CRAVE a view and a lot more privacy. So, yes, cricket0828, I think it is fine to move if you are bored, if you can afford the move and your DH is in agreement. paint chips, you came very close to how I feel when you said, "Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that sometimes you just have to let life pull you along for a ride."...See MoreJennifer Havin
