Ok , so I decided to Take a piece to the University here , as my sisters friend studies Horticulture, and said she could ask the professor. Hope it doesnt cause an uproar but he said , without a doubt...it is Euonymus alatus(obviously not compactus). He said they can grow to 20 feet tall. He also said that it was unfortunate that they cut it back the way they did, removing the bottom branches . This is why it snaps under a heavy rain...no support from below. So now my question is this , How can I restore it to its proper shape, filling in at the bottom? Should I cut it back in spring ? Its so old im afraid to take it back to a stump.

I suspect you may have two different trees there, there looks to be two different leaf types, a pinnate one with large leaflets, probably Ailanthus altissima (see e.g. in the gap, top centre), and a more feathery-looking one, probably Gleditsia triacanthos. The bark on the two trunks also looks to be slightly different. Can you get any closer pics of the leaves and pods? Resin

Just looked it up in my bird book and it could be either a Sharp-Shinned Hawk or a Coopers Hawk. They are really hard to tell apart. The Coopers Hawk tend to have more ticking on the breast, where the S-S is more solid. Nice picture! I feed the LBBs (little brown birds) here to attract the birds of prey. I have a huge spruce tree in my front yard and have seen Cooper's and Kestrels fly in there for a meal. We are overrun with English sparrows, pardon me, politically correct HOUSE sparrows, starlings and Eurasian collared doves and do anything I can to get the numbers down. We also live out in the high desert and worry about hantavirus and need to keep the rodent population down. The guys at the feed store looked at me like I grew a third head when I told him "my hawks thank you" when he loaded up the 40# of sunflower seeds. "I didn't know hawks ate sunflower seeds". "Nope," I told him, " they eat the birds that eat the sunflower seeds." I left him speechless!

Yes, but most citrus grow true-to-type from seed due to Nucellar embryony... certainly most oranges and grapefruit. Exceptions are Meyer lemon, 'Temple' oranges, Clementines, Persian lime, most pummelos, I think. Tangors and Tangelos put off a high % of nucellar seedlings. According to my notes where I keep my citrus information, I had this filed away. This is a quote from Dr. Malcolm Manners, professor of Citrus Science at Florida Southern College: 'Nearly all of the sweet oranges (C. sinensis) come true-to type from seed. A few (some navels, 'Pineapple') make minor variations in their seedlings, even though they are technically nucellar. Nearly all grapefruit also come true-to-type. The only exception I can think of is 'Thompson Pink' which produces 'Marsh Seedless' seedlings, since it is a periclinal chimera, and the mutant tissue is not in the layer that makes the seeds. The vast majority of mandarin types are also nucellar, and therefore, come true-to-type. Also, nearly all lemons, 'Key' Lime, and most other sour-fruited types come true. Persian limes do not. Meyer is monoembryonic, so does not come true-to-type from seed. Actually, the list of citrus that don't come true is quite small.'
