I would kill to have something papered in one of those Quadrille or Cowan and Tout bamboo trellis style wallpapers. And I love the classic Manuel Canovas trellis pattern. Not so hot on the Kelly Wearstler Trellis pattern for some reason. Anyway, I also love grasscloth and would love to try it. I just hate to go to the trouble of having to hire someone to hang it because I always have such horrible luck hiring tradespeople. I would rather paint because I can do that myself and make sure it'd done right. Anyway, here are some beautiful, timeless wallpapers:

Yes the moisture problem was over 20 years ago and it was not a burst pipe. The woman above us turned her sink on and then went to her bedroom and went to sleep and forgot about it. It's flooded and came down through the wall. This caused some minor swelling to the plaster and made the paint crack and peel. There is no sheetrock there what you see is beige paint underneath a layer of yellow paint. There is no existing moisture problem. It is simply a very ugly wall. I want to put something attractive that I can easily wipe down. Peel and stick seems like the best solution since it's easy to take away if I need to. If there is ever another leak or moisture problem the entire wall will have to be torn out and fixed by the owners of the property anyway. The amount of investment to do a peel and stick for this small area is $30. I am not about to go out and spend a stack of money on this wall when I don't own the property. A lot of this is really nice advice for someone who owned the property but that is not the case here. Surface is fairly smooth I was just worried that the areas of peeling paint would interfere with the adhesion of the peel and stick and was simply asking if I should put up some type of board first, smooth out the wall with putty or just go as is. That was really my only concern whether or not the peel and stick wood actually stick to this surface. Sorry if that wasn't clear in the original post

Ninigret.. Thank you it really is a great space, and will be even better once it is done.. There is a larger matching attic room opposite it which will be the next project.. Here are some pics of what we started with.. SJS..the room is 12 X 8 and when we gutted it we raised the ceiling up a bit but as with an attic space you can only go so high. I had considered putting a thick trim molding up on the flat part to help give some definition but reconsidered as I feared it would make it feel lower rather than higher... The first pic is the room we are currently doing, the other two are its longer match which will be next.. Both show how the ceilings and walls used to be..

It’s pretty neutral, you could definitely use warm beige. I’d get a sample of the paper first, if possible, just to see how the colors are in real life. Sorry, not a great mock-up, but hopefully gives a general idea. If you go with something strong and dark like this, I’d get pillows that coordinate with it. It’ll give a more cohesive look. Doggie is so cute. :) ETA: Somehow I just saw this link you posted, missed it before. I like it, but you’d need to see it in the room to make sure you don’t get a pinkish beige vs any gold tones in the room. It's hard to tell from just computer images: The right wallpaper will really transform this room.
