stone tudor -- exterior color scheme? HELP!
Comments (45)I also love the original bath (black/white) and what looks to be the original tile floor in the third floor bath. Your stone wall and pillars are wonderful, too. Did you remove the rhododenron near those? I'll bet they are lovely in the spring. Thanks for the tip to click on the picture to see the whole album!...See MoreEnglish Tudor Paint Colors
Comments (24)Thanks everyone for the suggestions! After seeing some of the suggestions I agree that keeping it traditional will look best, and lightening the color of cream to not be so buttery would be a great improvement. I love the first photo from celery girl and also the modern feel of LL's exterior in sealskin color. I also like Kathy's cream color suggestion- Kathy- any idea what color that is? Also, I was not joking about the red door for an additional pop and modern touch to the traditional exterior. Any suggestions for door colors would be appreciated too. :)...See MoreHelp me Update my Tudor!
Comments (68)I usually have an 'each their own' perspective, but when I saw this, it saddened me. All that beautiful architecture molested by the idea of renewing and lightening something up. I totally understand the need to make houses more efficient, but why try to make a tudor what it's not... sell it and buy a different house! That original brick work had it's own natural colors and was beautiful! So was the diamond lead glass windows in the front that were not spared! I only hope as Debbie Downer mentioned that the appropriate methods were used because masonry is meant to breath. Liberties of paint shouldn't give the assurance of improvement. I feel a loss of culture and character when I see all these beautiful thing that lasted the test of time, covered up. It's like people who paint over the amazing grain patterns of non-wormy, American chestnut trim to modernize the interior....See MoreHelp with updating our traditional Tudor home with stone exterior.
Comments (12)I would try to match the color of the large bottom stone in between the two large windows - or maybe a just a bit lighter version - for the stucco. Then see if SW Urbane Bronze works well with it for the trim. Charcoal gray would work with a lighter more neutral stucco, but make sure that it is a tone of gray that works well with the stones. The yellow has to go, definitely!...See MoreAdam Perry
