Best potting mix recipe for growing in Earthbox

Hello,

I've been growing in about 10 Earthboxes for the last 7 years with great results (most of the time). I typically reuse my potting mix for three years as long as I don't get any fungal diseases, mildew or vine borers. I reuse it by refreshing the old potting mix in the Earthboxes with some new potting mix after I've taken out the area around the fertilizer strip and the top 2 or 3 inches of old potting mix. Most of the time I use Black Gold Natural and Organic but this stuff is quite expensive, even on sale. I'm thinking of mixing my own potting mix this year to save some money.

There seems to be different recipes out there. According to the Earthbox website the potting mix should be Sphagnum peat-based (70-95%). Some people are using coco coir and pine bark fines.

My question is, what potting mix recipes have you used for Earthboxes that have been successful? What's the ideal ratio of peat, vermiculite and perlite?

Thank you everyone!
