To get the single yellow lutescens you're going to have to have one shipped in from elsewhere - if you can find a US source. If instead you are looking for the double yellow 'Lutea' there may be some around at a garden center somewhere in the area. You'll just have to make some more phone calls, maybe drive a ways to get it. The selection of roses now will not be nearly what it was in spring, and won't be back up again until peak season next year. If instead it being any version of R. banksiae is acceptable the double white form seems to have been the most prevalent at outlets here in later years. This was the original type first named R. banksiae and grown under that name. Later the true original wild species (with single white flowers and thorny canes) was recognized and became differentiated as R. banksiae var. normalis.

I suspect the "Snowflake" part is just a marketing name. If it's not fortuniana, and it is really a banksiae, it's most likely the normal white Lady Banks, Rosa banksiae banksiae. Was it in bloom? Was it double? Did it smell of violets? Thornless, thin, pliable canes? Then it's probably just white Banksia. Edit: Virginia, you posted while I was typing ;) I'm slow, as usual. Edit #2: Virginia, I just checked out the rose you linked @ Almost Eden. THAT one certainly looks like a banksia, and it's NOT fortuniana; it's a seedling selection of the species, evidently. So it's possible that what Brandon saw at HD was that one. Supposedly it's very fragrant, so I'd like to get my hands on one, lol. Is it the same violet perfume that white banksia is known for, I wonder?

Not Jeri, but if your climate is colder, it will flower for a shorter period. Banksiae itself, will flower over a longer period where the conditions are "spring-like", meaning cooler without the heat spikes summer brings. If where you live is hot, like the San Fernando Valley here in CA, it will begin flowering when the heat increases and continue flowering as long as it receives water and heat. When I lived in the LA area where it was hot, Purezza started flowering when the heat arrived and continued as long as it remained. Now I live in the cool Central Coast where "heat" is relative and in short spurts, Purezza flowered when the temps rose into the mid to high seventies and remained until they dipped back into the sixties. Banksiaes, all of them except Purezza, including Fortuniana and Basye's Amphidiploid 86-3, the tetraploid Banksaie X Laevigata hybrid, began flowering again and are still pushing some flowers. So, the appropriate answer to your question Reb. G, is it depends upon your specific conditions as flowering is a function of climate. If you are too cool, it will flower at the zenith of your heat and stop when the heat stops. If you are hot and remain there, it should start and continue as long as it remains hot. Those Tom Thumb genes manipulate the Banksiae flowering genes tremendously.
