Furniture Design Dilemma living room

Living room weird Layout solutions

Hey guys,

I need to re-design my living room, the layout is kind of weird, so not sure what would be the best design, where to put the TV what type of furniture to maximize the layout and dead spots, etc. I'm attaching the dimensions and some pictures to visualize the space including one from the kitchen looking into the living room, Any ideas greatly appreciated, thank you!

I like the room and the sofa and the TV seems to be in a good spot.

Is the recliner non negotiable?

Are you keeping the blue curtains and the yellow dining

chairs....are these the colors you want to use?

Do you want more lighting and end tables or are you keeping what you have.Do you need shelving/storage space in the room?

What is the area with the bright blue on the upper right side of the photo?

Thank you very much for the response @Susan Davis, everything is negotiable, the sofa is getting old, put there because that's all that I had, there's a dead spot in the corner, the curtains can be changed as needed, I want some sort of rustic/modern design if that makes any sense, just concerned about the living room layout and try to maximize the seating. Don't need any shelving or storage in the living room, just basically if it were a blank canvas what would you guys do? I'm sorry, not seeing any bright blue on upper right side, which photo is it?

Do a floor plan and make the smaller angled end of the room the dining area. As is now the table and chairs are wasting a lot of precious space. You can leave the t v where it is. With an app, have the screen become art work, or a simulated fireplace…. Put a sofa on the solid wall with floor lamps, sleek coffee table, with a colorful rug under, and two small swivel chairs to complete the vignette. Swivel chairs are valuable to your space, as they can turn toward both the sofa and the t v.

Let go of the idea that you have to have the sofa or any furniture at all against a wall. The best solution is to "float" the sofa, in your case, to face the fireplace. Get a really nice very large rug, put it in the middle of the room to anchor the space, and place the sofa and coffee table on it. Some shelving to the sides of the fireplace would be an ideal place to place a TV--on the right unless you have a huge TV. A nice easy chair on the left of the fireplace under the window with a floor lamp or shelf lamp behind it would make a cozy reading corner yet would add to your conversational grouping. It’s a big room. I would put the couch in the middle of the room facing the fireplace/patio door and flank it with the two white chairs. I would put the two brown chairs on either side of the armoire. Good Luck!

I need a to scale floor plan but IMO the first thing is to create an entry visually so I would look at some MCM room dividers to just give you a ense of entry. The floor plan to scale showing all windows , doorways , where the doorways lead and all measurements clearly matked . I also need the size of a dining table you need .
