Can we see up close pictures of front (garage?) and the actual entry? What’s going on with roof? Also, a picture from across street / road from Point where car would turn in to that driveway.

I’m limited a little on pictures but this is from the side of the house with the “entry” to the laundry.

Could you walk up the driveway and take a better picture so that everything is not in the shadows or post the MLS picture the realtor used so we can actually see the house. Looks lovely.

Where are the main living spaces inside?? Where would you enter into the great room area? Definitely need some pics. But really cute house

@kkennedy41 - I’m studying the pictures from the side of the house - I see 2 doors.. is the left door entry /exit to garage & right door goes right into the laundry room? When you say the house “has no front door” , you mean this literally & the laundry door is the only way to get into house? Is that because it’s a lake house & everyone is wet & muddy coming from water? But is that even fire code to have only one door to a house? if my understanding is correct, do you have plans to create a front entry? Your request is for help with curb appeal - do you mean with landscape since what exists is limited to trees & grass at least on the road / driveway side of your house? Speaking for myself, I need more details from you to understand what I’m seeing & exactly what you’re asking for input on. A drawing of the lot showing how driveway, road, doors & house are placed will be most helpful! Also, if it’s landscape help you‘d like, we need to know your location! Lucky you to live on a lake - I hope this house has a killer deck on the lake side!

All great input/questions guys! I don’t have MLS pics because we are buying off market and unfortunately these are the best pictures I took when I was there. The only other entries are back of the house as pictured- the glass doors on the left in this photo go to master and on the right go to living area. Yes the two doors pictures from side view are to the garage and the one with the glass pane goes to laundry. I don’t know that we want to make any structural changes at this point but depends on cost.

Ok - wow. Nice front of house - that side with all the decking & windows is the front of your house! So, still need clarifying info. Where are you? On Lake Michigan or some warm southern state lake? Or, somewhere in between as I see deciduous trees but still green grass. You ask for curb appeal input - is that for the back of house that faces road? When guests arrive do you want to direct them to front / lakeside glass doors? ( you’re going to live on a lake so you will have guests!) Does your driveway connect to main road & is it as extra long as it looks? I’m guessing you want to somehow personalize the back side of house to create pretty entry - are there restrictions with some Lake HOA?

We live in Texas so yes southern and hot!! Very few freezes to worry about. I really want some curb appeal added to the side facing road- it just seems so drab and sad to me compared to the lake side. For now we will most likely direct to the left of the house around to the living room entry. Not my ideal especially for guests we don’t know as well but I would think an expensive remodel would be necessary to reconfigure the house and allow for some sort of entry on backside that isn’t to the laundry room. It does connect to the main road- about where that picture is taken is where road starts. Hopefully you can also tell there’s a little pull off on the right side of the driveway for extra parking. No HOA. We are thinking about getting some quotes for redoing and expanding decking on lakeside.

i did notice the guest parking pad off the driveway. If you’re thinking of adding to decking & patio or hardscape, why not include having walkways from the guest parking around to front of house? It could be made of pavers or stone to blend into the natural setting. Connect it also to the sidewalk going to laundry mudroom door. I think this path or walkway would connect the back & entry to property with the front of the house & give direction from parking to entry(ies) At the road / driveway entry, carve out a generous planting area on left side of drive - opposite side of parking pad for balance. Plant evergreens with space for annuals if you like & include some hard scape elements like large landscape boulders or a big iron sculpture appropriate for your area. Maybe include your house address numbers if they aren’t obvious somewhere. That side of drive could also be lined with plantings to define & follow drive to house. Depends on what amount of maintenance you want. It looks shaded by the big trees so plan that into your plant choices. If it’s shady, plants with variegated leaf colors show up well. I cannot make planting suggestions as TX has planting zones 6 - 10 - a large state you know 😉! We hear you do have freezes but those occurrences aren’t ones that ypu can plan landscape around.

I would fence off the right side, putting a gate across the sidewalk. Then lead guests around to the front by installing an arbor directly across from the guest parking area (blue X on the photo.) Build the arbor of similar materials to the deck, and lay a paver or stone path around the house to the lakeside.

That is all very helpful! You both brought up several things we had never even thought about. We are zone 8! Any thoughts about changes to the house itself to update it? Painted brick? Changes to garage?

I wouldn’t paint the brick. I’d probably change the garage door color. But honestly I’d wait until you get this house. Live in it for a bit. And see what works and what does not. Then you will make changes accordingly.

I agree with @HU-187528210 - please don’t paint the brick! Seems like inviting maintenance long term & who wants that? Once you’ve been in awhile you might change the color of wood trim & at apex under the eaves of house along with the door. It’s difficult to suggest colors as in the first pic house is so shaded it Looks very dark but in other pics we see that it’s light brick color. Lighter color garage doors might brighten house up in shaded view but I’d look for more interesting colors than shades of white or cream. Maybe go to green colors - would be pretty with natural setting & provide some nice contrast with brick color.
