What should I do with this area? (2 large photos)
Comments (4)First if it was my space I think that patio are would make a really cute cottagy sitting area. Right in front of and under the window I would put a white rattan/wicker sofa or loveseat with some pretty floral cushions. In the corner if their is room a rattan/wicker chair or maybe even a rocker. Don't forget a little table somewhere like a side table with a cute little lamp and a place to set some nice cold sweet tea (well in the south anyway). A nice outdoor braided rug and a plant or two to finish it off. Oh ya throw in some candles for sitting out in the evening!! Next I would make a cute little path (ie brick, somesort of stone) from the back door that curves around to meet the front of the patio somewhere and even the steps to the deck. Ok so basically the walkway will come out from the door, patio, and deck steps and all be connected which you could then have sort of branch out to the yard. Hopefully you get the idea. Anyway in between the spaces of the walkway that would come out from each entry plant with plants like you have already started like the Astillbe, forget-me-nots,columbines, daylilys and oh you must have Lily-of-the-valley! The smell near a patio is heaven. Also how about bleeding hearts? You could plant a hydrangea or two. I think shrubs in front of the deck would look really nice or put a trellis of some sort going up the end of the patio where the patio meets the deck and have some sort of vine going up it. I have also seen people use like a matchstick shade type deal that could be rolled up or down for more privacy. Flowerboxes on the deck would be very pretty too. I did that at my old house and it an instant way to dress up a deck (got them from wally world). Eventually curve your garden beds around the perimeter oh the yard. Well hopes this helps a little. Very cute space to work with! Meghan...See Morerevisiting... what should I do with these windows!
Comments (6)Not unless they are needed for light control. Your curtains are all a nice light, sheer style and based on the outside picture you posted, I would not even notice the lack of blinds on those windows. In case I haven't told you this, I love, love the light, airy, breezy look/feel of your entire home. You have motivated me to start looking at ways to lighten my darker, traditional look up. I can only hope!...See MoreAfraid to ask...What should I do with my dining room?
Comments (35)In addition to accessories, the first thing I would consider if you canâÂÂt/donâÂÂt want to paint the ceiling to bring in more teal, and you are going to hate me for this, is to change the banding on the drapes to teal, or at least add a couple inch band of teal between the red and the print. That will also help the teal pop out of the drapery fabric. I would NOT paint the panels above the fireplace in the teal. What I would do is get a thicker piece for the mantel shelf, and drop it down so that the bottom of it starts at the top line of the tile, and paint it the same color as the rest of the panels (white?) I would then look for three platters or six smaller plates to hang in the panels with teal as the primary color. Or, use two of these on each of the outside panels, hung one over the other, and then a teal vase in the center with some branches and greenery to give some height. teal seashell plates Maybe this vase from Pier1: Teal reactive vase Pier1 will have all the faux and dried grasses, twigs and small floral accents to pull in the colors you want into the vase. If you donâÂÂt like the plates, look at the seashell and starfish/coral wall art pieces on the Pier 1 site - they would work instead of the plates on the two side panels. Please also take a little time to paint all the vents teal to disappear on the wall. They are not decorative items. :-) A taller more vertical mirror over the sideboard, and either one bigger lamp on one side, or a pair of lamps on either side. Consider finding something if you do a single larger lamp, that has a ceramic base. I know this is expensive, but I think it would be stunning there against the teal wall, and picks up the coral pattern in the drapery: coral porcelain temple jar lamp...See MoreWhat should I do in my dining room?
Comments (16)If the starburst mirrors are the same size, they could work. I don't think something smaller will though. This is from Joss and Main and is 35x47 so it's quite good size and only $115. https://www.jossandmain.com/Almond-Blossoms-by-Van-Gogh-Canvas-Print-TMAR6641.html?piid%5B0%5D=10615119#readmoremodal1 This is 40x40 from One Kings Lane. $239. https://www.onekingslane.com/p/4511869-nell-waters-bernegger-palms-in-rain.do?refType=&from=fn $260 for this-also 40x40https://www.onekingslane.com/p/4530843-mary-h-case-boscage.do?refType=&from=fn Here's another by the same artist.
