Can someone please help me ID'ing these 3 plants?
Comments (5)Thank you very much for the ID's. The first one is near the spot where I saw the bad-looking P. mugo subsp. rotunda about which I asked an ID too. At first I though they were both the same species because they looked similar, but when I went too look closer then I could see the cones were definitely different. Funny part is that someone else suggested in that thread where I asked for an ID that it could be P. thunbergii. So I guess both trees are similar looking indeed. The second one I think comes from a hedge close-by that was (I think) never trimmed and therefore started producing cones. The third one is almost a miracle to me. Closest Abies koreana that I'm aware of is at least a few hundred meters away from where I found it. I'm very glad I dug it out too because A. koreana was also on my wanted list. :)...See MoreEVENT: Florida Panhandle Seed Swap
Comments (22)Well this was a blast! My only regret is that I didn't get there sooner, so missed meeting some of the people. Assuming they were anywhere near as friendly, enthusiastic, as the folks I did meet, that's a shame. As the last one to leave, it's believable when I say, I would have enjoyed yakking for a lot longer... yeah, I'm a talker, LOL! James, thanks especially for the Cycads and confederate rose, really cool stuff! I have some questions for you, will shoot you a note later. Also brought home what seems to be Neomarica and Billbergia, among other cool stuff (and of course, TONS of seeds!!) I still have a few things left from my list, if anyone wants to do a mail trade, or receive for postage reimbursement, just send me a private note. Well worth the 2+ hour drive, looking forward to the next one, tentatively aimed at national seed swap day in January. Count me in, and hopefully more gardenweb'ers too. - Tiffany P.S. James, this is my true love, foliage plants in a hanging basket, thanks again for the awesome stack! Pictured below is a "normal one" but I've taken things to a new place this year. Comments (4)I've sent the picture to a bunch of plant experts. Do you have the nursery name where you purchased it? Perhaps the owner would know more than the clerk. Where in Florida, if I may ask. The people to whom I've sent the photos are well known experts and curators at arboreta. Some work in Florida....See MoreHelp with I.D plant in West florida please.
Comments (6)I would expect it to be some sort of cassia or senna, of which there are a number of species native to that area. btw, most photo hosting websites are completely innocuous and safe to open. Unless they expect you to pay for that service.......... :-) But are now unnecessary with the photo posting opportunities here. And it is much easier (and faster) for readers to have the photos embedded in the post....See Moregraywings123
