Bedroom furniture has arrived! Pics! Need help w/ window...
Comments (24)Alrighty... I have been to JC Penny's (and a dz other stores) and am having trouble finding the right shade of grey. BUT- I have had no trouble finding blues!!!!! Would it be possible to bring blue into this room with window treatments and maybe a rug? These WT are from JC Penny's... they are not the right length, I just brought them home for color. It's a blue/grey... WDYT? Wide, just so you can see the color. and here they are more "closed" which is how I would hang them. I'm a little concerned they look "random"... like, where did I get the blue from? Thoughts? Also- we got our triple dresser. And *shudder* we got a new TV. We are not a big TV family (in fact, we just went from 1 TV to 2) but I like to watch the news as I get ready.... I know, I know... many of you are cringing. So am I. Until I get to watch the Today Show in the morning... I am feeling much more informed! ;) It's a beast. I also got a cute little (faux) orchid on clearence at Target. WDYT? How else do I decorate this wall (this is opposite the bed.)...See MoreNeed help with bedroom window treatments, please!
Comments (10)Thank you so much for the suggestions. I am so glad I found this forum--this is exactly what I was looking for. Sometimes you need fresh eyes. I can see that this site could be a bit addictive! So I didn't think I liked shorter length curtains either, but I'm reconsidering that. Thanks for the helpful photo & input, roarah. I never would have thought about the difference between sill-length and a bit lower, but I see your point. I don't really want Roman shades, as I want to keep the blinds, and I'd like something to cover the sides of the blinds, but thank you for the suggestion. As for the panels to the floor, that was my first choice, but the radiator cover extends out so far that I'm not sure that will look right, even with holdbacks. I have printed out a couple of pics of the window above the radiator, and I'm going to sketch out your suggestions to see how they look. I'll let you know what I decide. Oh, and the bed: There is a floor vent between the bed & radiator cover, so we can't move the bed too much closer. Luckily the frame is on wheels, so it's easy to roll when making the bed. One more question: Normally I line draperies, but since I'm using burlap, I wonder if unlined might look more light-diffusing & charming. Thoughts? Thanks again!...See MoreShades needed....large windows and lots of sun in bedroom?
Comments (9)I don't remember the brand of window film; I'll dig through that giant box of "house stuff" and see if I can find it. If you're not worried about the floors in that room and if early morning light doesn't bother you, you can put solar shades on the bottom windows and leave the top ones bare. I'd do the film and the solar shades if that is a western exposure. I've had a house (the obligatory McMansion) with that view/exposure and all windows - of which there were many - had coverings on that side. I had tile floors and wasn't worried about them but that was in NC and the summer sun was brutally hot. I had blackout draperies in the master bedroom because I don't like early morning light, lol. Many places can do custom coverings - solar shades or blinds - for the odd-sized windows. I'd stick with the big guys - Hunter Douglas, etc. - or at the very least make sure someone else measures; don't send your measurements to an online window coverings site. I've done that once - ordered inexpensive wovens cut to order from my measurements for my screened porch - but I wouldn't chance it for "real" windows. I want someone else to install, too....See MoreI am ready to paint my very large bedroom. need help ASAP
Comments (2)Are you willing to change other elements of your space. Example: the valances aren't working with the art and are dated. I would choose simple white bedding. I'd choose something that is much more earthy and less green. Here is Benjamin Moore Pashima...See MoreWindows on Washington Ltd
