Naked truth

Meaning truth plain and unadorned goes back to an old fable. Truth and Falsehood went swimming together in a stream. Falsehood came out of the water first and dressed in Truth’s clothing. Truth, not wanting to don the garments of Falsehood, remained naked.

I like that one!

I found myself smiling this morning, thinking about someone many generations in the future wondering how the terms 'clockwise' and 'counter clockwise' originated.

Oh I always thought mumbo jumbo meant a bunch of nonsense words as you stated. I will rethink it and call it magic. Magic's okay in my book. I wish somebody would mumbo jumbo away the covid virus and all of its side effects.

I always knew what it meant, but I had no idea of how it originated. It's a term my mother always used in reference to phonies. But I doubt she knew where it came from, either, she probably never played a hand of poker in her life. Rusty

Wood was commonly used for heating where I grew up, so this term is very familiar. And Annie, I have also chopped wood - a great form of exercise!
