Yes I've been; yes I've had them go up my nose and down my throat. No it doesn't hurt. They spray you with numbing stuff...at worst it's just uncomfortable. I also find watching what they see on the screen fascinating so it makes a good distraction.

Actually, I'm unhappy with how the numbing agent can affects my sense of taste, even though it's a really really super short amount of time, I've gone without the numbing. It still wasn't painful.

I wonder if they will need to do that to you at all though as it is a problem with your mouth....so you may be worried for nothing. Remember fear is not fact.

Many times, nothing to worry about at all. Painless and easy peasy.

I think it's in my nose as I am constantly having to blow it which in my 83 years I can not remember having to do that unless I had ahead cold. Also one day it ran like a faucet for a few hours. The salty mouth I have now I can live with except for eating when everything is salty.

I went many times as a child. As others have stated you will be fine. However depending on how the office does things do expect to return for any procedure other than perhaps a quick swab up your nose. My problem was my eyes and ears which I now know were allergies. Some of the tools they have are really fascinating.

Years ago I had a root canal. Dentist (specialist) apparently broke thru into my sinus cavity. For 2 years I kept having sinus problems, I was miserable. Not until I saw the ENT was the mystery solved. 2 years of a sinus infection!

Since then I have had 2 upper teeth pulled. Right after each of them I could breath thru my nose and feel it in my mouth! One closed up on its own, but the other needed surgery to close.

I had a vocal cord problem about 10 years ago and had repeated ENT visits with scoping, surgery, and then follow up exams with more scoping. The surgery recovery wasn't fun but the up the nose and (for me) somewhat down the throat scoping was not uncomfortable or difficult.

I went last month. Was getting swelling on neck below ear and have hissing in my ear.

Swelling was due to blocked saliva gland...nothing serious. For hissing he had me go for MRI and take a hearing test. MRI was ok..hissing caused by jaw foe some reason...nothing serious.

Hearing test was PITA. Failed 1 part because I couldn't hear a bell sound from miles away. Tech then wanted me to sign up for a webinar to learn how to hear better. She kept calling and texting me so I finally said my laptop broke.

I have been quite a few times due to vertigo and chronic sinus problems. At my last visit, the doctor checked out my sinus cavities with a small camera on a tube. ( Sorry I do not know the technical terms.)

He put cotton balls up my nostrils. They had a numbing agent on them. After a few minutes, he removed the cotton balls and inserted the camera tube up each nostril and into my sinus cavity. I did not feel a thing. I do not recall even a bad taste, just a little antiseptic smell which went away quickly.

The time waiting for the numbing agent to work was less than 5 minutes and we continued to talk about my condition during the whole procedure. The whole procedure took less than 10 minutes.

The cotton did not bother me.

What to me is much worse is when the dentist uses dry cotton to stuff areas in my mouth during a dental procedure. That makes me gag!
