There are masonry paints that won't cause damage to the brick and don't need repainting every decade. They change the color but allow the character of the brick to show through. Here is one company. Below are some of the colors they offer as they might look over brick.

I would not paint the brick, especially if it is on a four sides. I think the brick looks fine.

Update the landscaping and the garage doors (install with windows) as you planned. You could add a trellis over the garage door for added interest. Paint the white frame around the widow in the door the color of the door. Maybe find a more eye-catching color for the front door.

That’s a lot of brick to paint and maintain. I’d leave it and concentrate on fixing the other elements. paint or replace garage door. Update front door, columns, and windows. The white windows really seem out of place. Also, the tiny half circle window could be replaced with a full circle. Some colors that would look nice with the brick would be (depends on roof color, too)

1. A sage/olivey grayish

2. Black

3. Bluish gray

Last, you could break up the brick by adding a triangle of siding above the garage and in the middle section above porch.
