But they told me this was a Quartzite!
Comments (6)I find this post misleading. There is no such thing as soft quartzite. If it acts like marble, it is marble, not quartzite. There are a whole heck of lot of mislabeled stones in stone yards. The industry follows no standards in labeling their stones and the names and “types” vary from yard to yard. The kitchen forum is lucky enough to havea geologist who particates and provides accurate information on stones, including how to test slabs to know what you are actually looking at. Try the countertop geology threads for some solid information on countertop stones. https://www.gardenweb.com/discussions/2692150/countertop-geology-part-six-lets-talk-about-rocks-some-more?n=610...See MoreDarkening Black Leathered Quartzite Benches
Comments (0)Hi, In my new kitchen I have a mixture of Thin Porcelain (for practicality) and Natural Stone - Quartzite Black Fantasy (for show). I applied Miracle 511 Impregnator and Sealer to the Quartzite and before it had dried it looked amazing - the rich veins in black and white just popped. Now the 511 has dried, it has does not look quite as good as it did wet - it there a product I can apply to the Black Fantasy Quarzite that will darken/bring out the features ? thanks Jon...See Morereal talk about porcelain, ultra-compact, quartzite counters?
Comments (16)"So, if Dekton is properly installed, without mitered edges, will it still chip easily?" Chipping is determined by edge profile selection more than material. Does the color/movement go all the way through your slab? If so, you can have your edges more rounded. If it doesn't, the more rounded the edge, the worse the edge looks. "How the heck did the samples of porcelain on wall get chipped?" Dearlers forget it's a SHOWROOM. Have you ever been to a car dealership and seen a dent or scratch on a vehicle in the showroom? Of course not. I've seen giant chips in estone sink edges and the showroom owner turned down a repair. Insanity. "And why does Dekton (and competitors) suggest beveling edges if miter saws cause so many issues in the first place?" It's not miter saws causing damage; it's stoners trying to fabricate sintered with stone and estone tools. Completely different animals. Get Roberto Colonatti's fabrication and installation manual please. If your fabricator won't use it, get another please....See MoreKitchen backsplash recommendation for Chacra Quartzite
