Les - I made the changes! (pics - lots)
Comments (60)Thanks Kabergs for posting the picture. Sorry it took me so long to get back to you but I have had to study for my midterm and had other homework to get done... but that's another story! I love your wts - they have the colors I like in them and you are right, they look close to the color of my chairs. I received the sample pot and painted a poster board size of the ashen green along with splotches of both greens around the rooms. I still like the ashen better but DH likes the EG!! I scheduled a call with EK for Monday so she will have to break the tie. My hesitation about the EG is that it is too muddy at night and that's when I would be entertaining and seeing it the most. For some reason the blue in the Ashen calls to me. I know it's hard to get a true picture of the colors but here are some pics anyway. Oh, btw, I did look at the sample fabric that I sent to Ellen - I pulled some threads and there are BLUE threads in that fabric so that's why it casts such a blue color!! Next to the drapes at night with lights on. Next to the weird chair!! Either way, the decision will be made this week!!...See MoreIs Baby Turtle ssssoooooo 2009?
Comments (36)Thank you ttodd for your pics; your room is beautiful. Your pictures convinced me that I could add blue to a BT turtle room. I love the hydrangas in your room! I think I have decided what I will do for now, anyway. I have 2 weeks to change my mind! I decided that I just didn't like baby turtle in my light about 1/2 the time. It was beautiful a lot of the time, but other times it was kinda of murky. I also think the dry sage is too dark for my family room as I am trying to keep a light and airy feel to it. For the living room I will paint the window wall and one sofa wall Gray Mirage, which is the lighter version of dry sage. It is not an exact match, but the curtains work well with it. It looks nice over the sofa too. My kitchen (which flows into the FM visually and has dark cherry cabinets) I will paint dry sage. That room can handle a darker color and the dry sage will look lovely near the dark cherry cabinets. The little back entry mudroom behind the kitchen (it is located on the other side of the kitchen from the Family room) I will likely paint Gray mirage or perhaps November rain (one shade lighter than gray mirage). I am looking for a complementary color for the dry sage, but I think gray mirage will look pretty and it will make the space flow better. I still have barely beige in the family room and a bright yellow sunroom - all open. So, I think I need some gentle flow to contrast the bright yellow and the sage. I like the gray mirage/dry sage combo whether I decide to keep the curtains or not. I think it will compliment the sofa/ottoman/rug regardless of whether I keep or change the curtains. That takes some of the pressure off. Thank you all for your help! I really appreciate your veiws and comments on this journey. I ordered the side tables today and the painters come in 2 weeks. I am still trying to figure out how to get some blue in the room ( the dinning room is a gray blue and the library is gray as well). I did consider painting the kitchen Beach Glass (which BM says is a nice combo with gray mirage), but I didn't think I would love a blue kitchen for years, but a green one I could. I'll have to get the blue/gray in with some accents or art! Thank you again- any comment are welcome and appreciated!...See MoreBare fpl mantle in MBR; needs help
Comments (107)Hi Pattycakes, thanks. We have been away so I haven't been able to test the wallpaper samples. The mirror arrived and I really like it. Family thinks I've lost it. "Well, you have for sure left your Shaker phase". Here it is just propped up. (ignore the chair and ottoman on the left... I have it there on trial for scale and function ... a white one to match the right side is on order). The Fornasetti "cloud" paper (also comes as a mural) comes in 2 colorways. One is too cold. One is perfect but quite subtle. I may live with this as is for a while before I decide to paper/mural or not. Also have a rug I bought in India that is on its way but as I look at the photos, the brick, rug, and throw from BA all go, hmm....See MoreAirbnb question
Comments (21)We are going to Greece and will be in Air Bnbs in Santorini and Rhodes .... hotels in Athens, Milos and Symi. Air BnB is always my first choice esp when it is a the five of us. It just makes so much more sense. Even in the nicest suites and villas, for example, laundry was a rarity (except in ski locales) and a truly full K also rare. Plus, often you can find an AirBnB that is the perfect combo of a one off, characterful property that is managed to 4/5 star standards. They are not bargains per se but they can be if you consider everything you get. I would far prefer strolling to a local grocer and buying fresh baked goods and fruit, etc to sitting in my room waiting for someone to roll in a table and hoping they kept the toast warm. I far prefer doing my laundry when and how I want, to having to fill out a form and send it by such and such a time. Not to mention I still remember the time it cost $8 to launder a single pair toddler socks at the Beverly Hills Hotel. And $9 to get an orange at the Boston 4 Seasons. (both of these over 10 years ago!) I wonder how the hotel chains I used to frequent are dealing with this competition. I just find the very idea of a hotel, even most resorts, so boring anymore. I also don't miss the tiresome processes of checking in, the intrusion of maids and minibar wardens. Waits for elevators and room service. Who needs or wants any of that? As an aside, not sure if I mentioned this before, I did have a subpar experience last March. I say simply "subpar" and nothing more damning because, though I was not happy with the place and turned and left, in fairness it was a bohemian, urban spot and I knew that going in. It is just sometimes a fine line between shabby chic and mostly shabby, and I wasn't happy. I was *very* impressed and surprised when AIrBnb refunded me in full, about 2k....See Morelydia
