I use Mrs. Meyer's Basil-scented hand soap umpteen times a day. My cuticles aren't pretty, but it's way down my list of concerns. I like CeraVe moisturizing cream in the jar. I slather it on after a shower and it really helps the rest of me. I don't bother so much with my hands because in two minutes I'm probably going to be washing them again.

I use a two step process as I've yet to come across one that works for cleaning and moisturizing.

I use O'Keefe's working hands cream and it works great for me. Don't need a lot and it never leaves me feeling greasy. I don't even feel the need to use it every time I wash my hands it seems to work long for me.

Lyfia, I need to try that, although my hands aren't too dry right now. I use their foot cream and the foot exfoliater (just started first of the year) and it is working well - and my heels can get awful!!

I don't think you are going to find a soap that is truly moisturizing. Best to let the lotion/creams take care of that. I like a heavy cream after my bath and lotion during the day. In the mornings when I moisturize my face I moisturize on down my neck and then use the remainder on tops of my hands and rub into my cuticles. My day moisturizer has retinal and HA. Right now (my skin is drier this time of year), I'm adding a drop or 2 of my facial oil to the moisturizer. When I get the dry skin on the sides of the nails on my thumbs, I use oil on those areas.

I don’t know if this will be moisturizing enough for you but I like Trader Joe’s Lavender Chamomile hand soap. It has lavender oil, chamomile oil and tea tree oil to name a few. I sometimes even wash my face with it. It has a mild “clean” smell.

@Tina Marie my hands aren't bad either, which is probably why I don't need to use it a lot, but it is by far the best I've tried of anything. Now I have to take a look at the foot cream and exfoliator. Didn't know about those.

JT, I have a foot wash with tea tree oil and the odor is so potent I take my foot soaker outdoors. Then I read it can kill dogs and cats if they somehow touch it. Does your soap have an odor? TTO is still a good product though.

My DIL is a RN in an ER and I'm going to ask her because I've heard nurses sometimes need special lotions to keep their hands healthy from all the washing.

After a lifetime of trying all the popular and high rated dry skin creams, I finally found the best ever last year. I'm on the second tube.

If I could leave it on my hands all day and not keep washing them in hot water, my hands would look great. No cold water on my hands, the water is freezing cold.

I googled reviews other than Amazon and they were excellent, that's why I bought it.

Oakley, you are staying home so not sure why you are washing your hands more due to covid? Maybe its on your mind? I would probably cut down on the hand washing and that will probably help.

That was my thought too Tina. I rarely go anywhere other than for walks and to pick up groceries curbside, so I don't see the need to wash my hands any more than I normally do.

I'm essentially at home due to Covid. I wash every time I visit the bathroom, handle/prepare food, eat. That's a lot of handwashing even if there isn't a pandemic.

I can’t recommend a soap because I only use bars and you probably want liquid( I feel everyone always wants liquid)

For ragged cuticles, however, I love the Body Shop Almond Oil pen. It‘s so easy to apply, and it is very moisturizing.

For full hand extreme dryness best emergency treatment is slathering them at night and sleeping in manicure gloves. Then you’ll be back on track with regular dryness.

Then you need a moisture “shield”. Something like “gloves in a bottle” is good and I did learn about it in my candy stripping days, Avon used to make a “shield” too called “silicone glove” don’t know if they still do. But its a shield to hold in the moisture that you need

@Bunny yes of course and I do that too, or if I go out (which is grocery pick-up, drugstore, etc.) but I'm not really washing more due to Covid.

@localeater I just cannot do the gloves. However, I do socks or footies after applying the exfoliant or foot cream, and i try to do that after a hot bath.

I can only use plain Dial soap, original scented Dawn dish soap, bottled Dove sensitive body wash, or Dove bar. Other scented or specialty soaps dry and crack my skin.

If I were in your shoes, I'd switch to a plain-jane soap, moisturize after EVERY washing, and use Aquaphor Advanced Therapy Ointment every night before bed.

After the first week of returning to school, my 4 & 6 yr old started to have chaffed knuckles from the multiple use of hand sanitizer (they use it every time they leave or enter their classroom: lunch, PE, music, library, etc...). We've made a daily ritual of applying Aquaphor Advanced Therapy Lotion at bedtime, and it cleared right up.

I may be staying home but I'm busy piddling in the green house quite a bit, and I love staying physically busy. Plus two dogs, 4 cats. Bringing in wood. lol

I talked to DIL, she said there's nothing. Just keep doing what I do, wash then lotion.

CD, I have the same Aquaphor and I guarantee the Cutemol is much better. It costs more and I only buy the small tube at a time because it goes as long way, but the difference between the two is pretty big.

I forgot the main reason why my hands are dry. It's winter, dry and cold. :) And no, I'm not getting a humidifier.

My skin was so dry this winter. I started using Bioderma cleaning oil in the shower and it has really helped. I don't see why you couldn't use it as a hand soap. I also use it to take of makeup (on the rare occasion that I actually wear makeup).

@Rory (Zone 6b) I don't use a cleaning oil, but I love my facial oil. I use it at night and this time of year I mix a drop in with my daytime moisturizer. My skin gets so dry this time of year. I love my humidifier in the bedroom.

I love Emogene Lavendula soap. I dilute it 4 parts water to 1 part soap and put it in a foamer. It does not dry my skin. It is from a woman-owned company; it is small batch; and it is organic. My daughter and I also use her skin care products. @Tina Marie it is a Tennessee company!
