If you plan to use decorative ironwork (similar to your artwork and your towel rail) -- perhaps you could find a larger ironwork/artwork to mount on the main wall? Perhaps another change might be to add a vertical row of dark-colored iron shelves with a selection of dark wicker baskets (great for storage and texture) above the toilet. If you like the idea of a large pattern -- you could simply frame a large section of wallpaper for that area. Find a wallpaper or even wrapping paper that you like -- frame it up in a large poster frame from a shop like Hobby Lobby or Target -- and hang it on that wall. Hi Beverly - The pictures are low. What isn't apparent in the photo is that the very top picture is as high as it can go. There is a loft at the top of the stairs and above the highest picture is open space. You can see a bit of the blue paint in the loft in the middle picture. I'd like to add more things to the stair wall. Waiting for inspiration. :) Camlan - There is a mirror and a window opposite the book case and a gallery type wall with 15 or so Wallace Nutting prints around the door. I tried hanging a few of my mirrors and pictures in the space but they didn't work. It just occurred to me that I might have better luck if i found some kind of triangular piece. Tibbrix - I would love to add a closet or built in but underneath the stairs is the cellar stairwell. Thanks for your suggestions. Keep them coming!

Move the clock to a lighter room, pull the sectional away from the windows a bit more, and place a wide, low table or cabinet beneath the windows. Decorate it with a few striking items -- something metallic (a tall silver vase?) would help, in particular, to draw attention down from the irritating roofline. Keep the shapes bold and simple to show well against big white squares. If there is also enough space and light for it to thrive, you could consider a tall, narrow plant to the far left of the wall.

I love your home! I would raise the tv to the height of the openings on the left and right. Then I would add a tall potted tree or a cool tri fold screen to the right of the tv to visually increase the wall width. Maybe at an angle to give the illusion of a wider wall. You could integrate shallow floating shelves under the tv and cut them to conform to weird wall depth change. Or put a shallow wall unit up to opening height and hide the wall discrepancy.
