Comments (5)As best as I can tell from the photo, you have a male plant. Female flowers will look quite similar but have distinctive white filaments in the center of the flower. Comments (5)I don't think it is spiny, though it does appear in the pictures like it would be. It looks more... hairy to me than spiny. But, it is still very short and was surprised it was showing blooms. Perhaps the stem is spiny. It's dark out now and my spotlight is out, or I would go check right now!
