Comments (9)Thanks, all, some great suggestions. Take a look at these pictures: I'm inclined toward the second arrangement: I do like the plant hanging down, it seems to help the proportions. I could get a bigger vessel or basket and replace the faux with pothos or something. I like the African figure, but am beginning to think it's just too small for the mantel. Bigideaslittlefunds (me too!), the couches and accent colors in the pillows are green, not turquoise. I did buy a gorgeous art glass vase with swirls of blues and greens and aqua's that I'm planning to put out in spring. I've got the sun hanging on dental floss rather than committing a nail to the brick or mortar. I have to see if any of those brick clips would fit to avoid holes. Thanks, all! Any more ideas, keep 'em coming....See MoreDecorating around a deer head
Comments (77)But it doesn't have to generate controversy, particularly if we all take some time to stop and think twice about making comments that are hypocritical. I used to have a mounted mule deer head many years ago, but sold it to an antique store. We decorated him with a red nose and Santa hat for Christmas. Although not something I'd want to live with at this point in my life, I do recognize that my leather sofa and chairs - and a host of other ways that I have used animal parts throughout my life - pretty much disqualify me from ragging on someone because they choose to decorate with hunting trophies....See MoreDeer Head Decor
Comments (13)Here is one just like the one I bought. You'd never guess how different it looks after it is painted! I paid $29, plus $15 shipping for the one I 'won'. This isn't the seller I bought from. Mine arrived with one antler broken already, but since I was going to paint it, I didn't complain about it. Little did I know the same antler would break again... Anyway, it wasn't packed very well. Here is a link that might be useful: eBay deer head...See MoreI don't have to hang DH deer head! =) So now what??
Comments (15)If this were my space I would find a piece of art that I absolutely loved and a couple of sculptures / vase / figurine to flank the art. I would most likely admit that the sconces are a mistake and remove them, replacing with appropriate lighting to illuminate the art. I have never bought a piece of art specifically for a space in my home. I have purchased art because I was at an art show and fell in love. There is a theme to my art - it is all animals, mostly wildlife, some horses. I am passionate about nature and wildlife and animals. The pieces reflect my personality and my passions. Do you have a type of art or subject matter that you are passionate about?...See Moretedbixby
