Jerserygirl- thanks for getting back to me! NOTE ** OK, I probably literally spent almost 2 hours trying to get my picasa web thing to cooperate. I dont have high speed internet @ home. And donÂt know how to insert them right on the page. Oceanna tried to help me the other day but I havenÂt conquered it yet. For now until I can get to a faster computer letÂs pretend the only pics in there are the bombay furniture, havanna gold color stand and the wider cherry looking stand and my furniture. I do know what youÂre saying about the Bombay style with the furniture. That actually is my favorite though. I also see what you mean about the one with the inlay. I almost bought really pretty brown and white marble tables awhile back but I knew what furniture I wanted and wasnÂt sure it would go. It was such a good price though they only wanted like $100 for all three tables. I grew up in a house that was matchy. IÂd like to try to break away from that. IÂve seen other peopleÂs houses that arenÂt and it looks really nice. IÂm just think I wonÂt know how to coordinate it very well as I like too many styles. You said you equally like the 1st one in the second row with black legs..? Are you talking about the one with wrought iron? Or the ones with glass? Say I got the Bombay looking table and another round end table what type of coffee table? Of course, I really like the Bombay one. J Has drawers too which makes it more functional. Maybe I shouldnÂt even get a coffee table. I know I need to wait until the furniture is in to see how much room IÂll have to work with. The living room is 18x15. If I was going to pick out a marble tableÂwhite? Brown? The entertainment stand ÂYou said you liked #2. Are you referring to the overall look of the whole stand or that plus the color. The color of that one is Carribean Rum. In the store that one looked really cherry/purplish. I like it but thought IÂd really have matching problems if I got that color. That stand itself isnÂt completely out of the question. I just didnÂt want a HUGE full wall one. The havana gold on my monitor looks a horrible orangy color. Some stands have with options of Havana gold, carribean rum, & sable finish. Then thereÂs the oak looking ones with unfinished, natural, medium, dark, walnut, ..yadda ya. Point of me mentioning this is I donÂt think the Havana gold one looked like oak in the store. ItÂs a different wood. It really wasnÂt grainy. Darker and more solid looking. As long as I go with something darker would I be alright? Or is the style just way off? Should I just stay away from the oak? I really did consider finishing something myself. At this moment in time I really like the Bombay style. Would that look alright with the Carribean rum colored entertainment stand. They might not match Oops there I go again. See, itÂs in me to match! help I wouldÂve liked to have a nice light in the LR but DH really wanted a fan. We have central air but he could live in a freezer I think. We compromised, he got the fan I got to pick it. J I know this is a ton of stuff IÂm typing and throwing out there. Thank you so much for your thoughts and input!! It is really hard to visualize without pics. I know you aren't in the space yet, but could you at least link to a pic of the dining set? And the sofa? And a photo of your chandelier since it sounds like you have that in your current home? It sounds like the kitchen is a black/white color scheme. A lot of people pair that with greige walls, which (if my web search turned up the right sorts of images for "mink") seems like it would work with your dining set. I think "fawn" walls would not work well with "mink," at least if my understanding of what you mean by those colors is on point. Fawn conjures up a warm color with orange undertones, and while that could look nice with a sage green living room set, I think it will fight the cooler tones of the kitchen and the proposed dining set. It sounds like the peppercorn floor is not installed yet, so I will throw this out there: Dark floors have a reputation for showing every speck of dust. The elements you've described would look just as nice with a less dramatically dark floor. Just something to think about. I haven't found it to be difficult to find black tables in styles other than country. What style are you interested in? More modern? More traditional? I'm sure we could help you find something. But if you stick with the peppercorn floors, black furnishings might be too much black. You could do white (tie in with kitchen cabinetry), chrome (tie in with your proposed chandelier) or something else. Congratulations on your new home! (I probably should have led with that...)

Paint it. It is the cheapest way to do this. Fiddly and a PITA to do (all that sanding and priming and painting) but you will be MUCH happier when it is done. If you do NOT like the oak trim why would you keep it and then use the colour you DO NOT like to create a house full of flooring that you do not like? Makes no sense. Fashions change. The oak used to be super trendy but now it is so over. Grays are "in" in many places but our 'so over' in Europe and along the trendy coast lines of N. America. It is what it is. It is easy to change a wardrobe...but changing a house's trim is a PITA. But it goes with changing trends. If you want gray flooring, you might as well go whole hog and paint out the trim you don't like. You will be SO HAPPY that you did.

Hi, Its generally a good idea to keep your wood tones consistent throughout your home. For example, I have natural maple and natural cherry pieces in my home that have warm tones and look great together. With that said, there is no harm in “breaking the rules” and here’s a couple of great articles that explain how to do it right.
