Sure ... you'll have just under 3 feet to get around on the narrow dimension, and five feet on the long dimension. Just keep the chairs pushed in on the sides.

It would give you an extra three inches on every side, assuming centered. Have you considered oval? You could get a bigger table for less width.

I think a round 54 “ table will fit and I would get one that expands to an oval whaen you need more seating. That length of space also allows for a nice buffet . We do nned to see the to scale floor plan with all windows and doorawys and all meausrements clearly marked.As for dated there is no such thing as far as shape of the table . I like a pedestal style for the table it allows for nicer seating and since there are no legs you can sometimes squeeze in another seat or two.

I just wanted to tell you my experience with an expandable kitchen table. I do not recommend it. I ended up never once expanding the table. The leaf has to be stored somewhere, and takes up a ton of room for something that’s never used. And the worst is the ever-present seam in the table. So, you have a line down the center of your table at all times, and it does catch crumbs and grime, even though it’s a tight seam. I wish all the time I’d gotten a table without the leaf.
