Comments (9)Yes, Maryott's is one of the places you can use your AHS voucher for. And if you want to, you can just get the $35 worth of plants and all you pay for is shipping. I just had to have Century Club and so I splurged a little. I think it's worth it to join AHS though. Barb, sounds like you are staying really busy with your dad. My father had heart problems as well and I took him to and from several doctor's appointments as well so I know exactly what you are going through. I hope his surgery goes well this Friday. Jan, I am glad to hear that Century Club is doing well for you. We are in the same zone so it should do good here too. It looked so pretty from the picture Maryott's had on their site. Bill also told me that Hearts of Fire is a really nice red daylily and one that he would highly recommend. He said it has a really bold color that holds up and it has a velvetly looking appearance. There is only one more this year that is on my wish list and after that I will wait until next spring to buy anymore. I think.... I have been wanting to get Gilded by Grace. Mary Gaskins is the hybridizer and I called her and she told me this one is a really good performer and holds it's color well. She is getting ready to retire so she is going to hand over her daylilies to a friend of hers who is in the daylily business but she is still selling for now. Anyway, Gilded by Grace is not cheap so I don't know if I will be able to get it before next year or not. We will see..... Dianne...See MoreI've got some eye candy for you!
Comments (74)I'm doing good for an 80 year old. Do not spend much time on garden web since the changes. I'm into African Violets now. I have two shelf units-5 shelves each. I do the RRs for leaves and have about 50 now. My hoya are outside on the patio under the roof. Get some rain when the wind blows. I've sore of neglected them. I love when they bloom though. We sit outside in the evening and the fragrance is beautiful. I wished they bloomed more often than once a year. I may bring some inside and put some of the smaller leaved ones on a shelf instead of the violets. I am on Facebook more than here on Gardenweb. I can't get used to all the changes. It was easier before because i had tabs for the hoya forum, african violet forum, and the cactus forum. Now I just go to African violets and only when we are active in a RR, which is now. Most of the violet people went to facebook. Such is the times, changing, changing. Good to see you are still with the hoya. Keep up the great work....See Morei got coffee, i got tea, I got neem oil lookin' at me!
Comments (8)Put the coffee grounds down whenever you have them. I don't find them partucularly effective as a pest control but they do add organic matter and feed the plants. When to use compost tea, or Neem, depends. What are you using the stuff for? Compost tea to keep fungi at bay can be sprayed anytime, except during the heat of the day. Neem oil used for pest control is best sprayed when the target insect is present, Neem oil sprayed for fungi control is the same as compost tea. But be sure your soil is well amended with organic matter and is well balanced with nutrients so your plants grow strong and healthy and you won't need the rest of the stuff since the plants will simply not get bothered by most pests or diseases....See MoreAnnegriet
