I live a boring life...
Comments (13)Awwww! Hush puppies! I have a couple too many too but that wasn't the plan! Now I can't just tell my kids that some of them have to go! Good thing there is no limit on flowers! And how do you keep Bassets out of the garden? They are born to dig!LOL I put wire and x pens aroung my inner beds and the rest of the garden is fenced off. I am planning on a new iris bed INSIDE the yard this summer so the dogs can guard my plants. Last year I had more than a few stolen from the back beds! Specifically "chosen" ones! If they have to go through two gates and five large shelties to get them maybe I will keep my collection intact! Or I'll label them on a grid. Ginny...See MoreMy boring living room
Comments (11)I agree it needs something there, and I like the idea of art instead of a bookcase. Maybe you could put the baby head to work? If you bought an inexpensive canvas & a selection of paint colors that you like with the scheme you have planned (plus a couple contrasting ones) - is the baby old enough to produce some abstract art? Even as a temporary solution, it might give that corner a sense of purpose. What strikes me is that you have a lot of solid colors. Solid white, beige, and gray. A patterned rug would help (but I know it takes time to find one you really like). I think that's why it feels like you need art in that corner more than a bookcase. An alternative would be a collection of small plants (air plants?) in small pots in the light blue you like. Put them on shelves (since you have room for shelves mounted to the wall) and maybe add a few keepsakes as well....See MoreMy boring living room
Comments (25)In a not so large room the darker area above the fireplace chops up the living space and just looks busy. If you could paint it the same color as the walls it would open up your room and make it look larger. A beautiful painting over the mantel in multiple colors will add life and interest in what is otherwise a monochromatic space. A darker rug with both warm and cool colors will ground the room. Have a look at rugs at esale.rugs and RugsUSA for a wealth of choices. Drapes would be a great addition to your room....See MoreMy dreadfully boring living room
Comments (11)I’m loving all of the suggestions! Thank you so much! I think I have somewhat of a game plan now. One of the biggest issues it seems is that the furniture is a warmer color and the room is a cooler color. A nice big rug is a must. Shades or curtains would be great as well and art for some pop. Overhead light is meh. This is what I’m thinking: Switch the couch and loveseat for a black U-style sectional (leave some room on each side) Get a nice textured rug that fills most of the room. Make sure it’s a cooler color. Put a floor lamp in each corner for ambience. Add acoustic/blackout curtains (wall color or darker) Remove/switch out the coffee table and bench if switching, go with black/gunmetal Switch the tv stand for a bigger black/gunmetal stand Join the rest of society and get a tv made in the last decade Get some shelving (floor standing or floating?) to add stuff to Add some creative art on the walls for that extra personality Am I missing anything? And any changes you would make on my thoughts?...See MoreElaine Betancourt
