What’s width of back wall? How about a mix of items? display your 26” tall vase & create a gallery art display on the remaining 54” of height.. Size of art would need to be proportional to space.

Thanks, KW, the back wall is 30". Do you mean a display of wall art above the vase? We thought about that. The vase is only about 8" wide, though.

What an awkward size. What was the builder thinking? I'd start looking for a 6 foot metal sculpture. A saguaro cactus? There's always the bamboo poles in a vase, for a temporary fill. My friend painted some red lacquer and they looked pretty neat on her deck.

@marys235 - yes, that’s exactly what I mean! If the Vase is that narrow, your “gallery” of various smaller size of arts could be extended down the full length of the niche. Place the vase & experiment with paper cutouts to help visualize the look. If you have small paintings or pieces you could place them too for a better visual. The vase color & style as well as your decor would determine what kinds of frames & art you hang there. I’d use 3M Command strips for hanging since the pieces would be lightweight & that would give you flexibility to move the pieces around without making a dartboard out of the wall! 🙂. At the very least, my suggestion is probably the easiest to implement and will help you decide if you like the result or instead want to have shelving or another permanent change to the niche construction. And hey, if sometime down the road you see a piece that you fall in love with & that fills the space - well, you have the option to buy it!

The more I look at it the more I think the granite needs to go. It's kind of busy, and I think it will clash with almost anything I put in there.

Also, the entryway is 11 feet long and 6.5 feet wide, with the door and niche on the opposite short walls, and one long side open into the living room, so we have plenty of room to put a nice narrow table or chest and some artwork on the remaining long wall.
