I think I am getting this BUT......
Comments (10)"any ideas how I can get my hands on more?" You can make a pretty effective container using some gallon Ziploc bags and cardboard. I posted this a couple of years ago but lost the original post so Ill try and recreate it here. First you get some ZiplocÂs and make the drainage and vent holes. I used a hole punch and put holes in the locations indicated by the marks. Then you need to cut up some cardboard (scavenged from large boxes) and cut it up into pieces that will fit inside the baggies. This creates walls that in effect turn your floppy bag into a container that will retain its shape. I think the dimensions need to be around 21" by 5-1/2". This allows you to form a ring of cardboard but still be able to zip the bag shut and retain a cylindrical form. Staple the cardboard into a cylinder. You will need to be sure you cut the cardboard so the corrugations run vertically on the short axis. If it runs longitudinally it makes the cardboard very difficult to form into a cylinder. Also if your cardboard is stiff you can make it much more pliable by working it to soften it. I would run it over whatever is handy a few times. Simply grasping each end and doing a "shoe shine" type motion will work fine. Once the form is made I grasp it in what I called a "pretzel grip to slip it into the bag. I would tuck the bottom corners of the bag in just for neatness. After that you just do soil, seed, label and zip closed. I made up a whole bunch at once and just kept them stacked up til I needed them. Now this form (baggies in general) can be somewhat floppy. If you were not intending to move the bags around it will be fine but if you need to move them about it could disturb things. What I did was set the prepared bags on some cheap aluminum pans. I poked some large holes in the pans so they would drain preventing the bags from water logging. If I needed to move them I used a pizza peel (yeah, you read that right) I had laying around to move the whole tray. Could be a solution for the problem of not having enough jugs or two liters....See MoreI feel like I am annoying you all...but...
Comments (41)KKNY I don't know what to make of you. Of course we don't make the skids 'spy' for us. They brought the subject of smoking up themselves, we usually don't ask about those things (BM's drinking, the smoking - while pregnant of course, and other negative trades). That is because we'd feel bad knowing that the girls would probably feel like defending their mom. So therefore we wait till they volunteer the information and then we might ask what they think about it, or how they feel. The therapist has given us really good advice on how to be supportive of them, and how to adress these kinds of issues without criticizing their mom. However we do ask the girls general questions to show an interest in their other family, which is important for them. Like about their little brother or what they were up to on the weekend? Is that allowed?? Ima already explained it very well. It's about the power of brainwashing,I guess you're not that familiar with it. Like Ima's SD saying it is raining when the sun is clearly shining (that was your post Ima, right?) Also what is the significant difference for you between Stepmom or SO? I'm FDH's SO and stepmom to the skids. They actually started calling me that without my encouragement, they think it's 'cool' and so that's fine with me. You always think that it's the SM's vs the BM's here, and I don't understand why? Surely you're not that shallow to assume all Stepmoms are on the same page and all BM's are on the other? Just because I'm Dutch doesn't mean that I'm on the same page as all other Dutch people, right?...See MoreI'm really trying.... but!
Comments (28)Wow, I forgot I shared that Tx. She walked down the hall... then came back, asked "is SD going to be ok if I oust her from 'that' room" and I said "oh, no, sorry, you and dad are in DD's room". And then continued what I was doing. I didn't even look at her. But the energy sure was weird! I could "sense"/"hear"/"feel" her muttering to dad.... She slept in the spare room last night and DD and Gpa slept in DD's room. DH told me not to put her in there but I just didn't feel up to anything. I did not change the sheets or make the bed though. Usually I would. But I am just barely well right now. When they came back last night I said "there's homemade chicken soup in the fridge" and they weren't interested so I directed them to a nearby restaurant. Yay me. I was up coughing all last night. This virus will not go away. hahahaha the funniest thing happened though. SM came in the house last night and then I heard her and dad talking and she said something and then he said, I have to get the bags out of the car first and then she said, oh, well, are you going to want me to help with that? and he made this noise... huh-ma-gib-a - ish noise and she said "oh, (trilling laughter) of course you're going to want me to help" AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Bi-zotch! Quick Poll: Would any of you just expect your DH to carry all the bags in? If so, is that because you have a physical condition or a pre-set division of labor and you will be doing something else that is contributing to getting "it" done (whatever you need to do as a family to get ready/settled) In other words, would you ever go somewhere on vacation and be sitting on the couch yapping while your DH carried all of the bags in the house?...See MoreI try not to dwell on it but....
Comments (21)I had severe congestion and coughing and fatigue due to bad allergies last April. Back then I could only go to the doctor, no testing and my doctor was fairly clueless helping me with my sinus issues. Getting tested will just give you peace of mind, and if it is allergies, you can get to work on figuring out what the best treatment is. I have bad INDOOR allergies, to molds and mildew. The forced air heating is my worst enemy. Also, make sure to get enough sunglight and exercise because sleep deprivation from worry is the WORST. Try to find a good book that takes your mind off of the worry. And report back here!!...See More- 5 years ago
