Need help coordinating bedding in blue guest room
Comments (5)I have always been one to choose my paint first in a room even though it's backwards I know. The reason being that I love to change up my bedding and area rugs, particularly bedding. I like the idea of mostly ivory bedding but was wondering about possibly a quilt folded on the end and if so, whether to tie in the brown there or the blue of the wall color. Right now the room is painted dark brown which is the color my now 22 yr. old picked when it was his room. Definitely want to make it cheerier for a guest room....See Moredesperately need help w/ guest room - no 2.
Comments (14)Thanks guys for the vote of confidence. His FIL rarely stays long (a blessing) because we didn't have a guest room before and he doesn't want to sleep in the kids' room. If I make the new guest room to his liking, he may end up staying longer and I don't know if I can handle that. :-) To be fair to DH, I'd sold him on the concept of making the guest room into a coastal B&B room - creamy white painted furniture, white bedding with blue/green accent, etc...then I met this bed and things changed. :-) Ah well.. he mellowed a bit and said we could give it a try. If we see another bed then we can always switch. I am going to do it in old English cottage style - I found some great insipirational pictures on Ralph Lauren home website. I spent the whole day yesterday cleaned out DH's office. This is going to be the beginning of a beautiful guest room! (I hope) Lil home: Sage advice. Every time I asked DH for opinion, it seems we always ends up a bit closer to divorce court!...See MoreGuest Room Help! Need side tables, lamp, decor, and dresser.
Comments (9)There is no reason you can't keep the bed and the art. I might think about having the art re-framed. It has dark colors and could be framed in a wood that matches the sleigh bed, get a slightly larger double mat that is not such a brilliant white. Hang the art over the bed so you see it when you enter the room. Think about how your guests use the room. Weekend guests don't need a lot of storage. If the closet is empty you can place a luggage rack inside the closet. If they are watching TV it is usually from the bed. I would place the TV on the wall where they can view tv as they are laying on the bed. A small makeup vanity can serve many purposes, provide a chair for sitting, a desktop, a place to do their hair and makeup. There is one on etsy that may work nicely with your bed. Cherry makeup vanity Matching vanity stool is also available on etsy vanity stool If keeping the art, I would try to incorporate the blue or green colors from the art in the bedding and window coverings. Add a small blanket folded at the foot of the bed, an accent pillow and recover the seat of the vanity stool. Add a small nightstand with a lamp with a blue or green base and a little blue dish where they can set their glasses or phone or watch. Again - on etsy nightstands...See MoreNeed help with guest room finishing touches please
Comments (1)For lamps, I’d go with square. I think that shape works better with your nightstands and they need to be much taller. You want the light to fall on the bed so that if someone where in bed reading, the light would fall on the book. I’d pull your bedspread all the way up. Lay your shams down flat(so you can see more of the headboard), remove the trellis patterned ones (too overpowering) and then just place the lumbar pillow in front of the shams. Get rid of the matching mirror and go with something more unusual with a blue frame. Add a white vanity tray to the dresser to break up some of the wood then place art over desk but I would do a set of four....See MorePatricia Colwell Consulting
