Lighting Design Dilemma Kitchens

Pendant light size and quantity for 10ft island. Please help :-)

Hi there,

I'm looking to get the Goodman pendants in the Antique White with Brass Interior to hang over my island but I'm not sure which size to pick and how many. For reference, my kitchen has off white cabinets, gold hardware, and still debating between a dark gray or light wood 10ft island.

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I would never do a paper shade light in a kitchen so not much help there . I like 3 pendants over that length of island but how wide is it.

I agree, three pendants. You could go a bit larger with them and space them evenly

I vote for 2 of the smaller pendants. I agonized over this decision too, and I found it helpful to take some bowls in the corresponding sizes, wrap them in alum foil, and coerce some volunteers to hold them in the proposed sites, just so I could get a visual perspective on my options.

Hello everyone!! I NEED HELP!!! I purchased 2 Duke Oversized Pendants (16 inch overall diameter) in 2020 on Pottery Barn site. They make my whole kitchen!! The glass on one of them broke and Pottery Barn site says No Longer available! Ive been in tears for weeks!!! Can anyone tell me where I can find one of these?? My email is ginamt2@yahoo.com. Thank you! I'm not home to give dimensions for the lights. I'll hopefully remember to come back and give you a size of lights. The faucets are Moen Align one handle pulldown faucets. I have 4 of these faucets and love them.

What kind of bulb is that ? It looks like Edison type light which BTW IMO is horrible everywhere and for sure to light an island . Post a pic in a comment here of your kitchen that is how you get help. I like the looks of the fixture but IMO an LED 4000K bulb is a must. But I need to see your space .

@Patricia Colwell Consulting It’s a 10ft Island. So, you’d suggest 3 of the small ones? Any reason why you wouldn’t do that shade?

I agree with Ms. Colwell re: non paper shades in a kitchen. Too much potential for grease/dust meaning almost impossible to adequately clean. Glass or metal shades are better choices for kitchens that incur heavy cooking/baking.
