Plumbing supply place says unless I can take one off (have one on tub in unfinished bathroom, have access to the back of that in case gasket slips) and bring it in, they can't help w/o a manufacturer. They don't know if anyone makes one in SS. Price Pfister uses these, don't see why modular factory would use PP drain with Delta faucet. Gerber also uses them. Builder has no idea what factory used/uses. I emailed the plumber who did the onsite work for us, I trust him, he found cracked pipe b/t floors (looks like someone dropped something on it before shipping he said), saved us a *big* mess there. He says these are only used to hold pipe to tub during install, should be OK to remove now as long as I'm careful that gasket stays in place. We want to finish the master bath this year, install a filter for the iron problem, so maybe I'll have *him* remove this one at that time (we're going to replace trim on master tub with color that actually matches the faucet - don't know why they put in cheap plastic "chrome" when we got Delta ORB faucets - not installed since bathroom needs tub deck tiled 1st). I may cut out the sheetrock on the other side of the wall (a cubby for the hamper) and put in a panel for access in this bathroom too. As long as we take care of this now, should be OK. Besides the cosmetic issue of rust, I was worried that the screws would corrode so much that when we needed to replace the gasket, they'd just break off. I didn't loosen them, but after I took the pic, I cleaned it as best I could with it in place. I think hot steamy showers and spray hitting body then bouncing back against spout/overflow are causing this to stay wet most of the time (4 people, 1 shower and the kids like them *hot*!).

I think the first real item I made was a yellow plaid roll-up sleeve blouse in Home Ec. I had no clue that matching plaids would be that involved. Since I was in high school in the 60's I remember making a 2 piece lined wool suit like Jackie Kennedy and of course had the matching pill box hat. Next I made a dress out of a pretty green dotted swiss. We didn't have room to cut out our garments in the Home Ec. cottage so we were taken into the cafeteria to use those tables. When I started making my dress I realized that I had not only lost the back pattern piece to my skirt but also the fabric. My Mother and I went back to the store to buy more but they were out of that color. I ended up replacing the back of my skirt with white organdy and applied a white bow in the back of the waist. What had started out as a rather plain dress became a nice church dress which I wore for quite a while. The dress that gave me such fits turned out to be a favorite of mine. Now I really LOVE to sew and also enjoy "thinking outside the box". Some things are made special because of the work involved. It makes you appretiate the results.

I hate using chemicals on anything, but I have to agree that Ken's method is very handy and I have adopted it. I put undiluted roundup in a dropper bottle, then cut the offender at/near ground level then drop RU on the cut stump. Done and done. I use very little chemical and none of it sprays around to unwanted places. The cats can follow me around as I'm doing this and I don't worry. I don't feel an urge to take a huge shower after doing this - it's as clean as one can be while tackling an unpleasant task. I've started doing this on non-woody plants like thistles and it works too. Good luck!

I'm not sure but it looks like a few of them could be former mummies--ones that were parasitized. The escape hatch style hole makes me think that but I'd want a closer look to be sure. Anyway, yeah, you don't want those things there...
