beach house owners-favorite things?
Comments (12)We built our beach house about 11 years ago. It's right on the beach (Gulf of Mexico). A couple of my husband's best friends died and he decided that we would enjoy life to the fullest...and we do at the beach! I put a starfish or sand dollar over each doorway and window. We have model sailboats mounted on the walls. We have a very old oar over the 6 large windows in the living room. LLBean had a beautiful rug with lighthouses, whales, sailboats and a coastal village that is in my living room. I used blue and yellow throughout the house. We put a laundry sink in our large pantry and it is great for sandy feet, sandy babies and sandy dogs. I have terry robes in the 2 guest bedrooms with the name of our beach house embroidered on them. I try to stay away from the cheapy beach stuff to decorate. We have a weather station (wind speed, temp, etc) that we really like. We sail so it's important but we love looking at the recall to see the high wind speed or temp. We keep extra sunglasses, flip flops, bathroom stuff. Always movies and popcorn and ice cream. I love being able to go down without taking clothing or food because it is already there. And we have great neighbors. Just some of my favorite things, Peppygirl...See Moregood flooring for beach cottage?? sand exposure
Comments (24)Susan; check out a new product on the market that is an Extruded Waterproof Core Flooring. It combines the natural beauty and tough wearability of a Luxury Vinyl Tile (used in a lot of Commercial buildings) on top of a waterproof core board. It can be installed as a floating floor or full spread glued with minimum sub-floor prep. I used a product called Aqua-Lok and found it easy to install. it looks like expensive reclaimed hardwoods but it holds up to the dog's traffic and it's waterproof too boot....See MoreScandinavian cottage + French country + Bohemian beach
Comments (234)Update! Hello! I hope everyone is safe in this crazy times that we are living. I wanted to give an update in what's been happening in our home since last year. I hate when people vanish ;) After a few months we got the permission from the city hall to open another window in the livingroom, after that we put our money and focus on the outside. We build a garage, a wall (fence) around our backyard and renovated the front of the house + we finished the gas system in the kitchen and painted the walls and ceiling of almost the whole house but then winter came and we had to stop. This went from October until March, we had to stop a few weeks here and there when it was raining but in the end was great. Quarantine came and we stopped all our plans and we just focused on being save and no spending money. In August I started again with plans for decoration, I bought the first painting for the house, we already put some instruments on the walls, we made a new island, new wood counter in the kitchen and we just finished a diy chandelier idea that I had from looking on Instagram. It's from a cork tree that a friend gave us. I will post some pictures that I have now and I promise to post more this week. I'm working a lot and have to find the time to take pretty pictures 😉 I hope I can post the pictures in this post now because this site isn't working so well with me. Take care xx The wall Counter Island...See MoreFavorite rooms - Lars - outdoor edition
Comments (25)We only have a pool in Cathedral City - not in L.A. We thought about putting in a pool here, but it would have taken up most of the yard, and it's never hot here anyway. I wanted it mainly for exercise, and the pool I have in CC would not fit in my back yard in L.A. It would be lovely to have people visit in CC - I have a lot of space there, and so it would be good for a party, but we have to wait for the pandemic to be over. Gardening is fun in L.A., but the bromeliads can get out of control, as they tend to multiply, and some of the ones I have are quite huge. I don't want to get rid of pups and will try to sell some of them, once the bromeliad society starts having meetings and sales again....See MoreTina Marie
