I wouldn't change anything about your actual home. It's beautiful, as is. What needs to change is your landscaping. If you'd like landscaping advice on this forum, you'll need to provide your climate zone and approximate location :)

Well. I'm in Ohio, so I don't know what grows well in your location, BUT, visually I would start here: get rid of the two long hedges in front of your home. They are blocking your windows and make your house look shorter than it is. Hopefully one of the talented landscaping experts on HOUZZ will join your discussion.

Thank you - would love to update the landscaping, it is probably original 1960's. Also, the windows are a tan vinyl and probably don't need to be replaced, but I've always wondered if white windows and white trim and gutters would look better. And, what can I do around the front door? Paint all trim black to match the door? Or white?

I like that the windows and gutters blend with the brick and I would leave the front door alone. I think it looks good the way it is :)

How much light does this area receive with the two wonderful oaks? You could look into giving the landscaping a more Texas feel with palms and grasses. Maybe a light bright color on the door instead of the black.

I see some dark specs in your brick. Would be good for dark trim.

Me too. I think picking up some of the dark tones of your brick for trim, would look lovely and also echo the tree bark in the landscaping out front.

Your brick is beautiful!! I wonder how it would look with black door and black trim and windows? or urban bronze? can the sun thing come out of the transom? Your lantern would show better.

Dig Doug's flowering shrubs are a much more appealing frame for your front door than the evergreens you have!

The house is beautiful. I like the current front door. The only thing I would maybe consider is larger house numbers.

I don't think the landscaping suits the house. It looks like it consists of evergreens exclusively. I think fewer shrubs including some deciduous would suit the house better. Where there are windows a low groundcover would be an improvement. If you can get a professional landscape design it would be worth the money. Some people pay for design then do the planting themselves.

I wouldn't change the windows if they are in good shape.

Marylee, If I paint trim and gutters the SW Anonymous, will it make my tan windows look more yellow? I don't know how to get the exact shade of these vinyl windows, but they look close to SW Relaxed Khaki.

Someone else told me the windows blend with the brick, that is nice to hear because I think replacing windows will be thousands $.
