I'm a lighting junkie - I like light from multiple sources - sometimes strong light, sometimes soft lighting. What is the wattage of the sconces? One bulb in each? Are there can lights in the ceiling other than the shower? A bar light typically has 2 to 3 to 4 bulbs in it depending on the size, so do the wattage math between the light bar verses two sconces. What kind of bar light would you consider? One that throws light downward, upward, or straight out? If your style of the new bath really calls for sconces, then can you add a can light or two in the ceiling for additional lighting? One final decision point - what kind of glass or fabric shades would be on both the sconces or light bar? That also may difuse light more than you are expecting. Heavy amber glass vs clear glass, etc. Personally as pretty as sconces are, a light bar to me, throws more light and may be more necessary in a room with no windows. I would try to add some can lights for additional lighting if you decide on sconces. Good luck.

I much prefer the closet off the bath and easy access from the closet to the laundry. Ours is a walk though closet approx 15' x 7' 6". Doors opposite each other giving DH a space of a bit more than 5' x 7'6" and I have about 7' x 7' 6" on my end, so basically two decent sized, but not overly large walk in closets sharing a 3' walk through between the bath and my office (but steps from laundry). DH slept in this morning. I showered and got ready for the day, put up laundry, and dried a load of towels and put them up all without disturbing DH. During the day, I most frequently access the closet and master bath from my office. Very convenient.

I would stick with nickel for all the knobs, in both rooms. Black will look very stark with your other options, and in your bathroom, the floor gives you enough darkness. Round is better than square for knobs because over time as they need to be tightened, the square ones get crooked. I like your third lighting option, which looks more sophisticated. I would wait on the bathroom mirrors until you see the completed space. At that point, it will be more apparent whether metal or wood frames are better, and what shape/size is best.

Kaylee, thank you. I like the seeded globes better than the frosted globes too, but I don't like the glare. No one is putting on makeup in there though. Sabrina, thank you. It is our only visitor bathroom. One wall is 12 ft long so I need a lot of light. The two of us just use the master half bath and the full master bath in the master bedroom. We have a 12 ft x 12 ft bedroom for the grandkids that is next to the visitor bathroom. They will use that bathroom. The upstairs bedrooms have another bathroom to use. No powder room, just the visitor bathroom. I don't like the glare of the clear bulbs. I thought I could either use frosted globes or frosted bulbs. Will the seeded glass leave the shadows if I use frosted bulbs? One light on each side of the mirror would not be enough light. The 48" vanity is on the 7 .5 ft wall with the toilet. The shower is on the 12 ft wall, but it has a can light, and there is a closet behind the shower head wall that opens into the hallway. The other 7.5 ft wall is the closet and bathroom entry door. The last 12 ft wall is blank. Horrible, but that is how the previous owners built it. That closet is really dark. What kind of light should I put in the closet?
