Do I paint island/built-in china cabinet/desk same as cabinets?
Comments (9)I love frenchkitty's kitchen. I used her kitchen as one of my inspiration photos for my new kitchen, last year. I did not know what colors she used. (Thanks). First, I totally agree that you should paint the desk the same as the cabinets. Second, any reason you are not going to paint the bricks on the island??? Do they match some other bricks in your home? You could paint them the same as the cabinets if you wanted to downplay them or leave them if you like them. Third, I used SW antique white as our trim color thoughout our home, plus all the kitchen cabinets. The painter did glaze the kitchen cabinets with a brown glaze mix and I just love them. They are a soft cream with the brown antiqued look. We used SW Ivoire for all the walls and now I want to repaint the kitchen walls a deeper tone of gold or caramel. I am little confused. What color are you leaning toward for the china cabinet? I liked Patty Cakes idea of using a color and then perhaps glazing over it. I am not crzay about the idea of brown. Too safe and boring. I do love the French blues or perhaps a soft bluish green. If depends on what other colors you use in your kitchen and home. You actually could also do a bright shade of color with no glaze. It all depends on your taste. But not brown. Sorry....See MoreCustom medicine cabinet - which way should doors swing
Comments (5)Thanks. I hadn't thought about using the water pik in the center cabinet -- I'm not sure how long the hose is -- it would need to reach the sink and as I said, in our bathroom, there is more space between the cabinets so the center cabinet is farther from the sinks. I will make sure we put an outlet in each cabinet so that is an option. In my opinion, I kind of figured the center cabinet would stay closed most of the time and we would mainly use the ones above our respective sinks. But I will have to measure the cord on the water pik and see if it would work to use the center one as the main one. On the subject of two sinks, we only have one sink now and I never understood the desire for two sinks (it always seemed like people on househunters were completely irrational about it, LOL!). In my opinion, a second sink was just more work to clean. But here we are putting in 2 sinks because my dh has a lot of dental problems and his dentists keep adding steps to his nightly tooth care ritual to the point where it takes him like 20 minutes to brush, floss, use this other weird gum cleaning tool, water pik, rinse with special prescription rinses, etc. In the meantime, I am standing there exhausted waiting my turn at the sink so I can brush for a minute and go to bed (I was blessed with good teeth thankfully!). So I cannot WAIT to have two sinks even though I will end up cleaning them both....See MoreNeed Advice! Should cabinets & doors be same color???
Comments (3)Thanks, Patricia! That’s my goal today - get different shades of Cheating Heart mixed. Regarding shiplap walls: We actually ended up hanging the shiplap over the drywall. We live in the country along the southeast coast and it fits our setting here by giving our new home the “old” look like I wanted. I couldn’t love it more! Thanks for your input!...See MoreCan Cabinet Color be the same as wall color?
Comments (1)They can be the same shade, but make sure that you get a sample door painted to ensure the color match is correct with whatever product your cabinets are being painted with, because it may turn out slightly different IRL....See MoreSammie J
