Comments (24)Tib...we had Certainteed. Many boards cracked. The co replaced the boards. We paid for the labor to replace them. They didn't match due to fading. House had to be repainted. They provided a few buckets of paint, lol. just a headache with all of the warranty issues. Then there was a class action suit that we chose not to participate in....yada, yada, yada. I haven't seen the issues online with the Nichiha and have considered this brand as well. lots of good stuff online about the LP Smart Siding but who really knows about that stuff in a few years. Gotta choose something sooner or later....See MoreBoard and Batten color for my house?
Comments (16)Well I have to trust the architect here and go with a natural color, and have hunter orange doors. They know best, right? My masterpiece: Jokes aside, I've run renders on a few other colors available, and slept on the whole idea. Right now I feel like any deviation from my original white/black idea is a compromise I might regret. Not once have I had second thoughts on it. Lately seeing it becoming trendy is one thing, but there's no other houses in my area that are similar. Changing a color changes the whole idea of simplicity I had, at least in my opinion. Everyones idea's are wonderful, and I think I could make them work well on this house. Like blue or green with wood accents. Or simple white with white. I wanted a red house at one point too, but there's already 2 on the same street. Adopting any of these ideas however, has a cascading effect on other design elements beyond just a palette swap. These were my 2 main inspirational houses: When I saw these I thought, "wow, that's it!" In todays world of hyper-personalization of everything, I've eschewed variety and always gone with simple. I wear 1 brand of plain T-shirt, jeans, shorts. I like authentic, and I like quality. When I look at these houses, I feel I see a reflection of myself. No fascades or stuck on details, just a house. It's so rare to see a house not try to have standout features that it's unique to not have uniqueness, if that makes sense. It does to me. Thank you for the feedback, it's helped me move forward with more conviction. Marjen, anderson 400 windows are wood, and they'll need finishing anyways, so finishing them black is no difference. My house isn't in the right price range to really justify wood windows, much less triple glazed wood. With vinyl, the plastic comes either white or beige, and coloring anything else requires another step in manufacturing....See MoreWhich color composite deck with Aged Pewter Hardie Board and Batten?

I think you just helped me make up my mind to go with Fiberon Good Life Cabana. -- My builder is using Fiberon, and this is one of their more new colors. -- Thanks again! (PS. Comments (4)Thank you so much for your advice! The shed siding is new, sort of. We used transparent natural cedar stain on pallet wood. Will be cleaning the cedar siding on house soon., but thinking it probably won’t brighten up as much as the shed wood. Would you put the horizontal metal in line with the windows, or shorter pieces?...See MoreMcLinda
