What is your bedding? That IMO is what you atart with for a bedroom color palette. So show us your room

What aspect of Icicle isn’t working? Too light/dark/colourful/neutral etc?

no bedding or bed! starting from scratch! I don't want to bring in a bed and bedding until I have finished painting. Icicle is a little too....bright I'd say.

We need to lay the floor. Want to finish painting before floor is down. Buying a new bed and bedding which I've looked at but not yet purchased.

You MUST consider the bedding before you finalize your paint selection. It's the biggest piece of real estate in a bedroom. I will need to work with those curtain panels if they're staying. Then, and only then should you settle on the paint colour.

This is an approximate color palette. Sorry, I understand what you are saying, but I'll pick out the bedding after the painting is done. If I find bedding I can't live without, and it fights with the walls, I'll repaint the walls at that time.

Silent Ripple and Blue iris, above, are also contenders. Ignore the curtain. I will look for something that has a dark blue similar to the dark blue that is in this drape.

thanks Judy. I used SW Pure white on the ceiling and on the trim (semi-gloss oil on trim). Coral dust tho pretty is too much color. Main light source is south (we keep curtains drawn over west as it faces the street).

If you want blue on the walls here is what I found

(LCH stands for Light Chroma Hue)

(Chroma is how gray or colorful a color is 0 being absolute neutral gray)

(Hue is the color on a color wheel

So Rock Candy was too gray - not surprising - the Chroma is 1.49 It also falls into the Green Hue range vs blue.

Icicle was closer to what you want - assume also a bit gray with a Chroma of 1.5

Woodlawn Blue was too dark.

I have most of the SW colors on a spreadsheet (working on getting all the BM colors added, but it will be a while..

Here are all the Blue paint colors at least as light as Woodlawn Blue with a Chroma <10

Hue between 150 and 250 (mid green to mid blue - not wanting to go purple blue)

These are lighter Woodlawn, more colorful than the 2 SW Samples that you bought , but reasonably neutral (between 3 and 6)

Ask at the paint store if they have any larger samples that you could borrow to see how these look in your home. They will be paper samples and may look a bit different than the actual paint, but they will be close.

When you narrow your choice down and find the one/two you like best you can provide us feedback on what you like/dislike and we can help find colors in different brands.

Ah ha! Now I see your charts Jennifer. Thank you VERY much. We are getting a lot of snow today so I may not make it to the pain store but if I can I will.

I am posting a picture of the rug that will (most likel;y) go in this room. Right now it is rolled up in the basement waiting to come out from hiding after plaster wall demo is completed. In this pic from the manufacturer's website the rug looks very bright. In person the colors are more muted.

I am currently renovating a fixer - will take a few more years until I am completely finished, but I have a color palette planned for the house and am slowly filling in colors on my master plan as I complete each room.

When I moved in I knew I would be changing almost all the colors in the house, (Painting everything, replacing flooring and cabinetry.

I looked around and decided on what must stay. My foyer had purple, red and green slate and I have a huge fireplace wall that is between the foyer and living room. The brick matches the outside of the home, so when someone walks up to the front door and looks through the foyer window it has the same brick inside and out.

Those were really the only colors that were staying that I had to work with.

Luckily, I love purple, red and teal and own a lot of art and things with those colors.

I will be painting the living room, foyer and halls in a neutral that has not yet been finalized.

I just got the original wall paper down and even with a good eye for color the gold metallic fleck wallpaper was making it hard for me to see what the neutrals would look like in these 2 rooms and get a feel for the way light will play on the walls (10' window facing east in the living room and 8' window facing west in the foyer.)

The bedrooms and bathrooms will all be combinations of purples and teals.

I look at the paint color as a back drop for the other things that will be in the room - bedding, lamps, art. I don't want something too brilliant that it fights with things, but I want enough color that it looks like I picked a color and not another neutral.

I picked BM Quiet Moments (LCH 81 / 4.5 / 150 for my master bath, was planning BM Beach Glass (LCH 75 / 4.3 / 172) for my guest bath and bedroom, but ended up with SW Silver Mist (LCH 74 / 4.4 / 152) for the Guest Room. The hue of Beach Glass at 172 was too blue and was going powder blue where the sun came through the window.

The 152 hue at this chroma level was a great match to my flooring in the foyer.

So if you stand in my hallway you look one direction and see my foyer with the blue green flooring and a light that I painted a similar, but slightly more chromatic blue green. If you look the other direction you see the guest bedroom and the third direction the guest bath. Looking down the hall you will see my office. The floor color I used in the guest bath and guest bedroom is very similar to the purple slate in the foyer. The rest of the floors throughout the home complements the darker flooring - same design, but a light taupe (Purple undertone) vs the dark purple gray.

I can pick any bedding I want as long as it has a bit of the blue green color.

My office will be the transition from the blue greens to the purples that I want in the master bedroom.

My living room will transition from the blue greens to a truer green in my dishes.

Here is a snapshot of my color plan as it stands right now - still have not decided what purple is going in the master bedroom or how I am incorporating red into the kitchen, just know that when I do these rooms that I plan on doing red and purple.
