How would you hide this irrigation box?
Comments (6)I think a container on top would look good too and the irragation box would look good as a base. It's also situated perfectly for a fairly large planter. I've just got into container gardening and i love it. You can add aluminum cans to the bottem of container instead of rocks and it will be easy to move. I've just recently found that you can plant alot of differant perennuals in large containers. Right now i've got daylilies, sedum, peonies, yarrow, petunias, coleus, creeping phlox, and soon will have iris in large pots. You might try container gardening forum for ideas if you decide to go that way....See Morecover/hide fuse box
Comments (8)i have one that is very long and narrow in my laundry room, and i'm still working on the right thing for it i have a picture but it isn't big enough one thing to remember..they are metal..so you can hang anything on them with magnets..so if you make something or buy something that will fit..magnets make it a quick removal for getting to it.. a mirror or some art might be too heavy though so you would want to place a hook above the fuse box for those. there are a lot lot lot of those narrow longish mirrors out there in mirror land, they would be beautiful in a dining room..esp if there is room to put a plant and table or something in front to make a beautiful double viewed arrangement...See Moreswitching wireing from fuse box to circut breaker box
Comments (8)YOU CAN RUN FEEDS OF 14/2 (1 15 AMP CIRCUIT), 14/3 (2 15 AMP CIRCUITS), 12/2 (ONE 20 AMP CIRCUIT), AND 12/3 (2 20 AMP CIRCUITS). FROM THE NEW SERVICE PANEL TO THE FUSE PANEL. BE CAREFUL TO MATCH TO THE OLD WIRE SIZE 14 GAUGE, 12 GAUGE ETC. USING 12/3 AND 14/3 JUST SAVES BOX FILL AND CLEANER, LESS LABOR THAN RUNNING 2 SEPARATE 14 OR 12/2 CABLES. BUT IF YOU USE 14/3 OR 12/3 YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND HOW A SHARED NEUTRAL CIRCUIT WORKS, BLACK AND RED WIRES TO DIFFERENT BUS BAR OF THE PANEL. ONE OLD CIRCUIT TO THE BLACK, AND ONE OLD CIRCUIT TO THE RED, WITH BOTH OF THE OLD WHITES CONNECTED TO THE WHITE OF THE 12/3 OR 14/3. OR JUST RUN 14/2 OR 12/2 FOR EACH CIRCUIT CONNECTING BLACK TO BLACK, WHITE TO WHITE. THE FUSE BOX CAN BE A JUNCTION BOX BUT YOU WILL NEED TO TURN THE COVER INTO AN ACCESSIBLE BUT NOT SWINGING OPEN (USUALLY SCREW THE HINGED COVER SHUT. THIS IS DIFFICULT TYPING IN CAPS, WHY ARE WE ALL SHOUTING?...See MoreCant hide a junction box so what to do?
Comments (6)"The inspector's rationale is that an attic junction box does not qualify as readily accessible because the box may not be readily seen, because it may be in a tight location, and/or it may be buried under insulation." Inspectors seem to like to make up their own definitions, even when the NEC definitions are perfectly clear. 'Accessible' means you can obtain access without damaging the finished surface. 'Readily accessible' means you do not lead ladders, etc. You can walk up to the item and access it. A box does not have to be "readily seen" to be accessible. Insulation is not a 'finished surface' so digging to find the box is not prohibited. And "tight location" are a matter of convenience. You are not working on a box that may still contain some live equipment (like a panel fed by a meter). I have worked in plenty of cramped, hot, and wet locations (crawl spaces being one contender for lousy places to work). Is there a higher state authority to complain to? This guy sounds like a petty tyrant....See MoreJAN MOYER
