Making two rooms out of a living room with vaulted ceiling
Comments (19)I agree about consulting an architect or a designer who can work up a scale drawing including perspectives. That said, the ~ 8 foot ceiling was the standard for decades (and still is in much construction), and people have been perfectly content in reasonably sized rooms with 8 foot ceilings. I think the need for extra tall ceiling heights, particularly these near double height spaces, is grossly overstated in modern architecture. I live in a building with 14' ceilings and 23 foot (approximate length) parlors. This is a Very high ceiling. The floor I lived on with the 10 foot ceilings was a much more human scale for an interior, and 8.5 - 9 would have been adequate too, without the ornamental ceilings....See MoreI need light to read in my living room with a vaulted ceiling

Ceiling to the Steel T bar is approximately 14". Each Pendant comes with 4' of twisted wire to adjust individual pendant lights by wrapping around the bar. Comments (3)The style of the fan should coordinate with the style of your home, and you likely do not need a light in the fan. A lighting showroom can help you figure out the correct length of the downrod and the diameter of the blades. Just take your measurements in and they will assist you in getting the correct configuration....See MoreWhat color for vaulted ceiling living room?
Comments (2)I would paint the ceilings a bright white regardless of what you do with the walls. The agreeable gray doesn't work well with your tile floors, and you have lots of different grays that don't work with the golds and tans. You can ignore the floors like you have and continue the agreeable gray. Or what about a very soft blush color like your pillow, that would work with both the grays and the tan? Remember that your paint samples are skewed by the gold wall color. Paint your samples in the middle of a white poster board, or prime your walls first....See MoreTina Davis
