This isn't the easiest thing to read, so I can't say much: - No fireplace? - Dining room /school room: Since you have a large opening between these two (French doors?), I'm wondering if this could be arranged so you'd have a normal-sized table in the dining room . . . but for large groups, you could rearrange the furniture in the school room and extennnnnd the table that way to allow for large numbers of guests. - Usually I'd say NO to a closet on the corner, but the pantry is in a logical place, and you probably wouldn't have a window on that side of the kitchen anyway. - I'd remove the wall between the kitchen /great room -- keep just a little edge -- I'm not using good words here, but I mean a casing between the two rooms. Perhaps a wooden beam to differentiate the two rooms. - I would prefer the linen closet INSIDE the bathroom; you know, so the towels and toilet paper are stored where they're actually used. - The master closet door is inconvenient. If you're in the closet and your husband tries to enter the bedroom, he'll find a door in his face. It's also cutting off some of your storage.

The walk is something you'd lay out in PLAN view (bird's eye view) on a measured plan, to scale. This is important if you expect to have built, the same thing that you envision. Without a specific plan people many times end up disappointed with what the contractor installed. It is not difficult to create a plan for such a small area. If you create a base plan, I will help you. (At least I will try!) Look at comments in this thread (scroll to Sept. 20 - 25) about plan creation (for a walk.) Also, see comments in this thread. Scroll to Sept. 25 to 29. It's about creating a front walk. Since the walk is imminent, focus on it above all else as no plantings can be designed until the walk is planned. Please, everyone, try not to use out of date photographs. They often mislead, making discussion about some things pointless. Fresh photos are free and too easy to take now that everyone is walking around with a camera in their pocket.

Well then keep looking this will never be a craftsman or IMO traditional. My first change would be the front door .I find the covered porch next to the entry a bit dd . Is there no backyard space . Unless you are thinking of removing all the stacked stone or what appears to be stacked you will need a bucket of money. Could post pics that we can enlarge might help. Maybe some inspiration pics to give use some idea of what you think is English French traditonal

Could you add a couple of photos that show a bit more to the property lines left and right so we can see everything currently in the front yard? I would make the garage doors and all the trim around them the same color. You don’t want to be drawing attention in that area. The area around the front door I would make brighter with color and good lighting. The shrub in the lawn looks a bit unkempt and isn’t placed with any apparent logic relating it to anything else in the yard, so I would likely move or remove it. I would want something a couple of feet tall and rounded in the bed of purple groundcover as well as in a pot between the porch and garage.. The walkway and steps look pinched, so widen the steps and make the walkway wider. Change the placement of the walkway a bit to swing out a bit further from the house if you want to place a plant in the ground rather than a pot between the garage and the porch.
