Do you have any advice to give this exterior more curb appeal?
Comments (20)Thank you all so much. I appreciate the input. Celerygirl, seeing the colors imposed on the house is amazing. I like them all. Probably favor the top one. Can I bother you for the paint name? Love the door, would never have picked something like that! Houssaon, The belly board is the the strip that separates the bottom brick from the upper siding? It really does make a difference in the sample house you posted. It would run from the left side of the house, over the garage doors, little porch area, over the first floors windows and then ends at the right side of the house? I really like that idea. Thank yo so much. Ohio, Thank yo for you recommendation. Is there room for taller windows, which I far prefer, and if so, would you install windows with or without mullion? K Laurence and Decoenthusiast, I agree, however, we listed our house, expecting it to sit a while and it sold in 2 days. Our rental has fallen through and our timeframe for remaining in the area lengthened longer than anticipated. We have a trusted contractor who can supposedly do it all in 2 months (fingers crossed!!!!). If this falls through, we have no where to go :( Thank you all so much!! p.s. what do you think about the little porch area? can anything be done to enhance/change the railing....See MoreNeed ideas for to hide Hvac ducts, ideas for paint colors, curb appeal
Comments (10)I think some kind of trellis or screening structure near the HVAC equipment or at the front edge of the roof as others suggested, could obscure the view. This is required in my area for commercial buildings with rooftop equipment. . In the "improve curb appeal" area, I think a lot can be done with your front yard. The side photo showing a glimpse of the neighbor's iron fence shows a walkway, a green shrub, and some grass. Your front yard could use some attractive landscaping. Or, if time or money is limited, put in some hard scaping - cover the dead lawn with a rock or gravel pattern and have an interesting center piece or two in the middle. Just something to make it look not-abandoned. Also, I think what looks like a chain-link gate to the left of the garage could be spruced up. Compare how it looks to the neighbor's redwood (?) or redwood colored wood fence on the other side of the yard. The wood fence looks attractive, the chain link gate looks scruffy. Good luck....See MoreCurb appeal....What needs to be done to give a WOW factor?
Comments (27)Like the landscaping in the mock ups by celerygirl.for if you keep the sidewalk direct from door to road across the front yard. If you do keep it, you might "widen" it a bit by outlining it in pavers that you could also use to outline your planting beds ... with the tops of the pavers ground level for easy mowing. Especially like the shed roof mock up that extends the full width of the cantilevered overhang -- looks good; the gables would interfere with the look of the upstairs (wouldn't do that ... and I'm usually a fan of forward facing gables over front doors., You could even add a hip roof on that right corner and wrap your porch around the side of the house ... perhaps to reach a side or back screened porch. celerygirl has serious skills. Would "like" her work but Houzz has stopped letting me "like" (thumps up) comments.,...See MoreIdeas to add curb appeal to this confused exterior.
Comments (23)Kate, in addition to my last comment, here are some ideas for the porch floor. it's cement? if you enlarge the porch (which I really think you should do) here are some ideas for the floor. you could do a DIY deck. Are you guys handy or can you do some DIY projects? These aren't very difficult and will save you quite a bit. A contractor would charge you thousands for something like this. lots of tutorials. you would use the right material on top of your current cement porch, and build the wood deck on top of it. If you want to keep it concrete, then you would just pour another slab at the same height and width of what you have. BTW, these are the types of cedar posts (or Fir) that I mentioned for you to replace those thin white ones. you could just wrap the white ones with a wood like this. stain and varnish it. get a hanging flower basket. You see this porch? once you pour your other slabs to make the porch larger, you could lay this brick tile and do this design for your porch. they have thin brick veneer tiles, or you could use a porcelain tile that looks like brick the sidewalk. here's what I meant w/edging the sides w/brick or paver. looks neater than having your grass grown up on it you can actually do an overlay of your current concrete, (you'd have to watch some videos) or you can just paint it you can lay down a brick on top of your current sidewalk. This link has all the info and pics. Can you believe this is the same house and sidewalk??? How cute is this?!! https://www.nestofposies-blog.com/2018/08/installing-brick-pavers-over-existing-cement-sidewalk/...See MoreLily White
