Thanks maddielee...it was a popup not an email and nothing to click. It was concerning as it said someone had accessed. But I'm watching my IM and I don't see any nefarious messages being sent. So I hope I'm ok.

Doesn't hurt to change the password anyway...provided I did it all correctly. I know enough to think I know, but not enough to be sure I did it all right.

I get them almost every day and I have never had any icloud account or anything apple related.

I am sure you actually went to the site and not click on the link in the email. That's of course what they want you to click.

Thanks raven, but as I said above, it was a pop-up notification, not an email...just like the ones I get when I sign on to a device of mine.

I was receiving this type of pop up too. The helpers at the genus bar assured me that no one had my sign in info. But it’s never hurts to change your password.

I'm still having issues with icloud, but I think I've finally gotten it straightened out...fingers crossed.

I also ran malware and it found one threat which I deleted.

I receive notices from Apple quite often via e-mail that my account has been compromised, and I "must" change my password right away, and I can click this link to change it.

But interestingly, I don't even own any apple products. Sometimes I reply with a few choice naughty words. 🤣

I always had Apple products and received a few scares.

When in doubt, I call Apple Support and they've always provide guidance and reassurance.

Beware of the Apple email that thanks you for buying their product and then you see a very authentic letter with a print of what you purchased. I know, as I've gotten two of them. I had to ccp it and send it to my daughter who is an Apple executive and she said FAKE.

I just got a different kind of pop-up on my screen yesterday. Turned out to be some malware/ virus/ PITA problem, etc., that got installed when I did a search. Googled it and then googled how to remove it. Scammers are getting even more clever.

Found it in history. 'watchvideonet' was the culprit. The pop-up looked legit enough--had the Chrome icon attached--but I'm always suspicious so checked it out. Turned up when I did a search on Chrome. Guess I should go back to using Safari.

I get notifications on Chrome when I use my devices in a different location or access an account from a different device.

That message in the OP seems bogus to me. Better safe than sorry, tho.

There are a number of free services you can use to monitor things like that.
