Need help with living room furniture selection

Hi! Hoping to get some thoughts on my living room. We are looking to replace our sectional and recliners. The two must haves are 1) reclining options for two people (couch or 2 recliners) 2) would like to lighten/brighten the place up since we have dark cabinets and floors. Should we do a reclining sofa with 2 accent chairs or a sofa and 2 recliners? Not interested in another sectional. What colors should I look at? In terms of layout, I was thinking of shifting the furniture and putting one chair on either of the coffee table. photo of the living room attached as well as kitchn/dining since it's an open floorplan. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The only thing I can help with is the color. You have mainly warm colors here, so I would stick to warm: brown, dark tan, or olive green. Medium and dark colors hide stains better. Another thing that hides stains is a small and subtle print, such as a tiny tweed. I have a light blue tiny tweed, and I love it. I don't have any kids or pets, so the only mess I would make is my own!

I love all the elements! Gorgeous bed!!! Do you have large French doors that open up directly from your bedroom to your dining room? I'm guessing no. Not everyone will agree with what I am going to suggest and even did in my own house. My master bedroom and en-suite pretty much look like they could belong in another home :o That's ok with us! It's a private area and there is an alcove between it and the adjoining room. It's a totally different and lighter palette. The ensuite color palette was inspired by the sea and beaches of our Caribbean cruises. The bedroom is fairly calm and nondescript but the use of cool sea tone blue-greens wash into the bedroom...it's the least decorated room in the house but I like it decluttered and calm. The rest of the house is more dramatic, rich colors, warm palette of browns, wheat, burnished pumpkin, gold, black, green, plum, bronze (and wildlife in the form of hunting trophies). Lots of texture. It's our choice. It's our house :) And when I'm ready I can leave all that (that I love btw) and retreat to my sea toned, sparse, spa like oasis :) What I'm trying to say is...it's ok for your master suite to be different if that's what you want (imo) :) L.O.V.E that bed!

A couple of notes: The blue trim around the fireplace is not working for the room . I understand why it's not white, but the blue doesn't work. I've tried a color pulled from the tile and also black, but I'm not sure about those either. I guess I don't know why the brown mosaic was selected. Here is a suggested layout for the room. I don't know how many you want to seat but here is an option. Part of the problem in your room currently is that the area rug is not the correct size. IMO 8x10 is required for this room You mentioned MCM style so the rugs below were selected with that in mind.

Nice space! I realize this might be considered heresy in some circles, but I would think about painting the brick wall (same light color as the other walls). That will brighten the space. Regarding seating, do you want leather? That limits color options somewhat. If not, the sky is the limit! Since changing all the seating incolves many decisions, maybe start with just the sofa, leaving the recliners for later?
