Please pick the white of cabinetry FIRST. You are out of order. : ) Before any cabinet? Make sure the layout is good/functional and appliances are what you need and want.

Don't put buggies ahead of horses- paint can be mixed to a fraction of of a fraction of a shade for walls, in any finish

If this is a diy paint of existing cabinets? Simply use the SAME Mayonnaise for trim/cabinets and up the sheen to SATIN. Versus the matte on the walls. You will see smooth and seamless result, AND highlight trim at the same time . Due to change in SHEEN. Pain free/ no white agony, Lovely.

White Dove is dingy looking unless you get a full-on room of sunshine. If you want warmer white, try Simply White or Alabaster. Pick the same paint for your trim, but in Semi Gloss.

I did it w/my walls and trim (and cabinets) with Simply White

If you go too warm on the cabinets, they're going to look yellow. and if you want anything white (tile/countertop) it's really going to look yellow. Paint your walls a creamy color if you like, but keep the cabinets in the warmer white range.

these SW Alabaster. under the bright daylight, they're white. over to the left, you can see the creamy tone.

Paired w/the warm wood tones, it looks great. If you plan on doing cool colors, pick a diff white!

(lets hope the contractor isn't the one doing the painting. please, Pro Cabinet painters only. (not House painters!!)

I also have my ceiling, uppers, and trim in Simply White...it's simply wonderful :)

This is obviously a very subtle choice..the tonal shades of white are not apparent until you do all the cabinets...thus the “simple “ choice avoids all the worry later about matching/blending other elements and colors

Lighting is also always mentioned in these discussions...and in this case is also very important...so the colors stay true in their subtlety...

Just do Simply White :) Cabinets and trim, satin finish. Sorry, but semi is toooooo glossy. Soft gleam is all you need.

well, I disagree on the trim. I did semi gloss. so much easier to clean. and it's not that glossy. I did all the baseboards and trim with it. in some places it actually looks satin. (it's trim. it's supposed to have some gloss. lot easier to wipe off grime on the baseboards when the paint has sheen to it)

all of my white trim work is semi. (and it's Simply White) Is it really that glossy?

walls, crown/baseboard and cabs. simply white. crown/baseboard semi gloss. walls eggshell. cabs sprayed lacquer, satin.

you can see the slight difference w/the crown and wall color just from the diff sheen. ceiling is straight from the can ceiling white. no added tint)

Glossy finish will draw a little more attention the the trims...( if you want that)...maybe require a little more perfection...satin is a little more forgiving...

I have satin everywhere, and it gets wiped washed WEEKLY . I DETEST DUST. IT GLEAMS.: ) IT HAS PLENTY OF LUSTER LOL.

guys, satin- semi-gloss. not a huge diff. If you have rays of sunshine and a million windows, then maybe the satin will work just fine. I don't therefore, I don't get that reflective sheen that require sunglasses. (but it sure wipes clean easily! loll)

pick whichever one you prefer.
