olychick, thank you for taking a look. :) I'm relieved to hear you think a white shower pan is best. I am heading out now to find porcelain marble look tiles for the shower walls to pick up the gray as you suggested. I want a shiny finish to the walls. Tell me if you think that's a misstep. I am avoiding marble as I have a marble topped vanity now that is pock marked with etchings. As far as seeing myself in the vanity, yes, I think I will be able to do so. I was planning on a black framed mirror spanning the vanity. My current vanity is 32 1/4" high (as will be the new vanity) and when seated on my vanity stool my reflection is seen up to my chest. The only issue currently is that my knees are pressed against drawers. I failed to mention that I was thinking of using absolute black granite for the vanity top for two reasons: one being cost and the other being to avoid etching. Will doing so deviate too much from my inspiration? Agree that this is a very nice bath, and I can't imagine using a calendar to tell me when I no longer like the looks of something. Frameless is a good idea, and I'd consider replacing those light-killing plantation shutters with some top-down blinds that will preserve the privacy while letting in the sunshine. That and looking for other places to hang towels (back of door, remaining walls, etc) and I'd call it a day. Bathrooms become tens of thousands very quickly once you start ripping out tile...

You need drawer and shelf organizers and baskets. You have plenty of storage already for 2 people, and a very nice bathroom!! Do a pretty runner on the floor that goes the width of the vanity instead of the two mats. You can put extra padding under it. I have a plastic container with my “day” face products and one with my “night” face products. I grab the container out, do my thing, then stash it back away. I decant my face cleanser and hand soap in pretty pump decanters that stay on the counter. Toothpaste and toothbrush in a tall tumbler that matches the decanters. Makeup is organized in drawers. Cotton balls, q tips, hair styling tools and products etc in drawer and shelf organizers. If the lower doors open to cavernous spaces, invest in a system that is easy to pull out and use, which will help you stay organized. I try to keep my products grouped in containers by use, which helps keep the drawers and shelves clean. Containers get washed as needed, but it’s much easier than removing a whole shelf of stuff. I am RUTHLESS about throwing out products I don’t use often.

When I was younger, I couldn't understand why anyone would sit down to put their makeup on. However, after being in an accident and ending up with permanent injuries to my back that make standing in one place/position difficult, I find it necessary to sit down while putting on my makeup. Unfortunately, our master bathroom, although large and with a double vanity, is not configured in such a way that would make incorporating a sit-down makeup area feasible. I do have a chair, but I have to place it sideways so that when I'm sitting on the chair the counter and sink are at my side, rather than in front of me. Certainly not ideal, but better than not being able to sit down at all. Because we never know what life has in store for us, it's best to plan ahead. If there is any way you can incorporate a sit-down makeup area in your bathroom - do it. It doesn't have to be a separate table. It can simply be a lower section of countertop with "knee space." I would also suggest an easy reach to a sink.
