Those would be super easy to make, but I doubt you'll find them to purchase. With the one I posted, the top and bottom dowels are added, and they could be left off easy enough. Long ago I bought a whole bunch of decorative dowels to make some fancy "birdcage" type feeders. I even bought a drill press so I'd get straight holes. Maybe when I finally get done with the kitchen I can start making stuff like that again.

oldbat2be, thanks for the compliments and the photoshopping! My architect might make timberframe style work in the front, but it is a bit of a stretch! While there will be a bump out on the front (16' section will be 4' deeper than the rest of the overhang), I don't think it's enough to carry off the timberframe look. It's hard to tell from the pic, but there's plenty of vertical space to give the gable a good pitch without interfering with the windows. When we replace the windows in a few years we'll give them substantial trim, but still no shutters. And, yes, we've got a nice solar system, and the power company now pays us, instead of the reverse! :) Annie, I just love your house. The exterior has architectural interest without looking confused. Just lovely. And no maintenance: that's the holy grail!! laughable, I didn't know you could get a freelance aluminum wrapper, interesting! However... DH seems reconciled to a little exterior work. While not willing to spend so much on Azec as to go whole hog, he's thinking about a hybrid approach, which is what we did on the back of the house. So probably Azec wrapped beefy posts, composite decking, and then painted railings and spindles. At least all the painting will be at a nice height that way.
